Inleiding complexonderdeel 3
MUZIEKTENT, in 1928 door de Haagse architect J.J. (Co Brandes) ontworpen in een (Vaderlandse) Rustieke bouwstijl met invloeden van de Nieuwe Haagse School. De muziektent, pendant van de tegenover gelegen gedenkbank met pergola is licht verhoogd gesitueerd aan de noordoostzijde van het plantsoen in het verlengde van de centraal gelegen wetering.
Omschrijving
De uit een rode handvormsteen (kettingverband) opgetrokken muziektent heeft een achthoekig grondvlak met een hoge gemetselde borstwering. Aan de binnenzijde van de hoek staan tegen de borstweringsmuur gemetselde basementen met houten pijlers en korbeels, waarop het overstekende, achtzijdige rieten dak rust, dat is bekroond met een zinken piron. Aan twee zijden is de muziektent, via een gemetselde trap met keermuren toegankelijk. Aan de zuidwestzijde bevindt zich een entree naar het souterrain gedeelte onder de muziektent.
Waardering
De uit 1928 daterende muziektent is van algemeen belang wegens architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde:
- als representatief voorbeeld van een sociaal-culturele buurtvoorziening uit de jaren '20 van de 20ste eeuw;
- door de karakteristieke vormgeving en detaillering van de muziektent in een (Vaderlandse) Rustieke bouwstijl met invloeden van de Nieuwe Haagse School;

MUSIC TENT, designed in 1928 by The Hague architect J.J. (Co Brandes) in a (Patriotic) Rustic building style with influences from the New Hague School. The music tent, counterpart to the facing commemorative bench with pergola, is situated at a slightly raised level on the north-east side of the public garden in the extension of the centrally located waterway.
Description
The music tent, constructed from red hand-moulded brick (chain bond), has an octagonal ground plan with a high masonry parapet. On the inside of the corner, against the parapet wall, are masonry bases with wooden piers and corbels, upon which the overhanging, eight-sided thatched roof rests, crowned with a zinc finial. On two sides, the music tent is accessible via a masonry staircase with retaining walls. On the south-west side there is an entrance to the basement section beneath the music tent.

The music tent dating from 1928 is of general importance due to architectural and cultural-historical value:
