Inleiding.
VOLIERE met DUIVENHOK in de tuin achter Paviljoen I van het St. Servatiusgesticht. Het bouwwerk staat in de zuidoostelijke hoek van de tuin en is vermoedelijk omstreeks 1905-1907 geplaatst ter verfraaiing van de patiëntentuin.
Omschrijving.
Voliere met hierop een duivenhok, opgebouwd op een achthoekig bakstenen voetstuk met zwartgeteerde plint. Het betreft een houten constructie van geprofileerde, donkergekleurde hoekstijlen met regels waartegen een beschot van witgeschilderde verticale houten delen. Het bouwwerk wordt afgesloten met een achtzijdig tentdak met nokpiron en flink overstek gedragen door schoren tegen de hoekstijlen. In het dak bevindt zich een kleine dakkapel met vlieggat. De zes naar het buitenterrein gerichte zijden zijn volledig gesloten en slechts voorzien van enkele vlieggaten met vliegplankjes. Aan de tuinzijde bevindt zich in één zijde een eenvoudige deur onder een tweeruits bovenlicht gevuld met decoratief gebogen roeden en blauw gekleurd glas. De zijde rechts van deze deur heeft over de volle breedte en hoogte een soortgelijke opvallende glasvulling in een vierdelig venster.
Waardering.
De voliere met duivenhok in de tuin van Paviljoen I vertegenwoordigt algemeen belang en is van cultuur-historische en architectuur-historische waarde als functioneel en verfraaiend onderdeel van een van de patiëntentuinen van het St. Servatiusgesticht. Het bouwwerk heeft bouwhistorische en architectuur-historische waarde vanwege de toegepaste techniek als voorbeeld van vroeg twintigste-eeuwse houtbouw, en vanwege de voor die tijd kenmerkende ornamentiek.

AVIARY with DOVECOTE in the garden behind Pavilion I of the St. Servatiusgesticht. The structure stands in the southeastern corner of the garden and was presumably placed around 1905-1907 to embellish the patient garden.
Description.
Aviary with a dovecote on top, built on an octagonal brick base with a black-tarred plinth. It is a wooden construction of profiled, dark-coloured corner posts with rails against which is a cladding of white-painted vertical wooden parts. The structure is topped with an eight-sided pitched roof with ridge iron and considerable overhang supported by struts against the corner posts. In the roof there is a small roof dormancy with flight hole. The six sides facing the external area are completely closed and only provided with several flight holes with flight boards. On the garden side, in one side there is a simple door under a two-pane fanlight filled with decoratively curved glazing bars and blue-coloured glass. The side to the right of this door has across its full width and height a similar striking glass filling in a four-part window.
Valuation.
The aviary with dovecote in the garden of Pavilion I represents general interest and is of cultural-historical and architectural-historical value as a functional and ornamental component of one of the patient gardens of the St. Servatiusgesticht. The structure has building-historical and architectural-historical value because of the construction technique applied as an example of early twentieth-century timber construction, and because of the ornamentation characteristic for that period.
