Inleiding
OMBOUW van een verder verdwenen draaimolen aan de noordwestzijde van de speelweide van het Sint-Annagesticht. De draaimolen is vermoedelijk tegelijkertijd met de naastgelegen muziektent gebouwd omstreeks 1930-1935.
Omschrijving
De ombouw van de verdwenen draaimolen is opgebouwd op een centraliserend veelhoekig basement. Eenvoudige ijzeren buiskolommen dragen een spant waarover een tentdak ligt dat wordt bekroond door een piron. De constructie bestaat uit radiaal gerichte geklonken vakwerkspanten opgebouwd uit hoekprofielen, waarbij de onder- en bovenrand van de spanten de daklijn volgen. De kolommen zijn aan de bovenzijde met elkaar verbonden door een soort sierspantjes van geknipt plaatijzer in geometrische, Art-Deco-achtige motieven. De draaimolenombouw is dichtgezet met groengeschilderde verticale houten delen.
Waardering
De ombouw van de verdwenen draaimolen op de speelweide van het Sint-Annagesticht is van algemeen, cultuurhistorisch- en architectuurhistorisch belang als functioneel en verfraaiend onderdeel van het terrein van het Sint-Annagesticht, met een voor de jaren dertig van de twintigste eeuw kenmerkende ornamentiek. REBUILDING of a vanished carousel on the northwest side of the playground of the Sint-Annagesticht. The carousel was presumably built at the same time as the adjacent music tent around 1930-1935.
Description
The rebuilding of the vanished carousel is constructed on a centralising polygonal basement. Simple iron tube columns support a truss over which a canvas roof is laid and crowned by a finial. The structure consists of radially directed riveted lattice trusses made up of angle sections, whereby the lower and upper edges of the trusses follow the roofline. The columns are connected at the top to one another by a kind of ornamental strutting of cut sheet iron in geometric, Art-Deco-like motifs. The carousel rebuilding is closed off with green-painted vertical wooden elements.
Valuation
The rebuilding of the vanished carousel on the playground of the Sint-Annagesticht is of general, cultural-historical and architectural-historical importance as a functional and decorative component of the site of the Sint-Annagesticht, with ornamentation characteristic of the nineteen-thirties.
