Inleiding
Het GEMAAL is gelegen aan de westzijde van de Veerdam, onder aan de dijk en is gebouwd tegelijk met het er tegenover, op de dijk staande, pomphuisje, aan de oostzijde van de Veerdam. De beide gebouwen zijn rond 1930 gebouwd en vertonen de karakteristieken van de interbellumarchitectuur, met een grote invloed van de Delftse school.
Het gemaal bestaat uit een hoofdmassa met aan de zuidzijde een platte aanbouw die in twee fasen tot stand is gekomen. De uitbreiding, aan de zuidwest-zijde, is opgetrokken in een andere kleur steen. Of het gebouw in oorsprong voorzien is geweest van een platte aanbouw is niet geheel duidelijk.
Afgaande op enkele grote reparatieplekken in het metselwerk heeft het gebouw mogelijk oorlogsschade gehad. Vóór de oorlog is het pand wit geschilderd met een zwarte plint, maar de verflaag is grotendeels verdwenen.
Omschrijving
Het gebouw is opgetrokken op rechthoekige grondslag, met een kleine vierkante uitbouw aan de voorzijde, en telt één bouwlaag onder een met rode verbeterde Hollandse pannen gedekt, ver overstekend zadeldak. De nok heeft een rookkanaal. Aan de linkerzijde bevindt zich een platte aanbouw onder een dun betonnen overstekend dak, waarvan de latere uitbreiding voorbij de achtergevel uitsteekt. Het gebouw is opgetrokken in gele baksteen, gemetseld in Engels verband.
De uitbreiding aan de zuidwest-zijde is gemetseld met een rode baksteen.
De symmetrisch ingedeelde VOORGEVEL kent in het midden een vierkante uitbouw over vrijwel de volle hoogte, onder een met rode verbeterde Hollandse pannen gedekt zadeldak. Op de verdieping van dit bouwdeel bevindt zich een deur, die toegang geeft tot en balkon. Dit balkon bestaat uit een dunne betonnen plaat en heeft alleen aan de zijkanten een balustrade van buisstaal. Boven de deur bevindt zich een smalle lucht- en lichtspleet.
Links en rechts van de uitbouw bevinden zich op de begane grond een luchtrooster, afsluitbaar met luiken.
De platte aanbouw bevat een dubbele stalen deur met daarboven twee metalen ventilatie-openingen.
De LINKER ZIJGEVEL bevat een dubbel stalen deur met daarboven een lichtrooster.
De ACHTERGEVEL bevat twee 8-ruits stolpramen, de linker nog gedeeltelijk voorzien van horizontaal schuin neergeklapte latten, de rechter voorzien van luiken.
De achtergevel van de aanbouw bevat een klein enkelruits venster.
De RECHTER ZIJGEVEL bevat een deur onder een afdakje gevormd door een dunne betonnen plaat. Het afdak wordt gesteund door twee pilasterachtige uitmetselingen.

Introduction
The PUMPING STATION is located on the west side of the Veerdam, below the dike, and was built at the same time as the pump house opposite it on the dike, on the east side of the Veerdam. Both buildings were built around 1930 and display the characteristics of interwar architecture, with strong influence from the Delft school.
The pumping station consists of a main mass with a flat extension on the south side which was constructed in two phases. The extension, on the south-west side, is built of a different coloured stone. It is not entirely clear whether the building was originally intended to have a flat extension.
Based on some large repair patches in the brickwork, the building may have suffered war damage. Before the war the building was painted white with a black plinth, but the paint layer has largely disappeared.
Description
The building is constructed on a rectangular plan, with a small square annexe at the front, and comprises one storey under a saddle roof covered with red improved Dutch tiles with a wide overhang. The ridge has a flue. On the left side there is a flat extension under a thin concrete overhanging roof, of which the later extension extends beyond the rear facade. The building is constructed of yellow brick, mortared in English bond.
The extension on the south-west side is mortared with red brick.
The symmetrically arranged FRONT FACADE has in the centre a square annexe extending over virtually the full height, under a saddle roof covered with red improved Dutch tiles. On the upper storey of this section is a door providing access to a balcony. This balcony consists of a thin concrete slab and has balustrades of tubular steel only on the sides. Above the door is a narrow air and light slot.
On either side of the annexe on the ground floor is an air grille, closable with shutters.
The flat extension contains a double steel door with two metal ventilation openings above it.
The LEFT SIDE FACADE contains a double steel door with a light grille above it.
The REAR FACADE contains two 8-light pivot windows, the left one still partially provided with horizontally sloped-down slats, the right one provided with shutters.
The rear facade of the extension contains a small single-light window.
The RIGHT SIDE FACADE contains a door under a small roof formed by a thin concrete slab. The small roof is supported by two pilaster-like masonry projections.

Pumping station from approximately 1930.
