Inleiding
De VEERTIENDE STATIE "Jezus wordt in het graf gelegd" is in 1916-1918 in opdracht van de Heilig-Land-Stichting uitgevoerd naar ontwerp van Piet Gerrits in de vorm van een kunstmatig opgeworpen stenen berg, voorstellende een rots met het uitgekapte HEILIG GRAF. Deze statie werd gewijd op Allerheiligen in het jaar 1918. Dit object maakt binnen het complex van de Heilig-Land-Stichting onderdeel uit van het thema "de lijdensweg van Christus".
Het H. Graf is gesitueerd op het hoogste punt van de heuvel waarop de rooms-katholieke begraafplaats van de Heilig-Land-Stichting is aangelegd. De begraafplaats maakte tot 1988 onderdeel uit van het aangrenzende Bijbels Openluchtmuseum, maar functioneert sedertdien zelfstandig.
Omschrijving
De in beton uitgevoerde en met planten begroeide 'rots' heeft een onregelmatig grondplan. Aan de oostzijde is een portaal uitgespaard. De eenvoudig geprofileerde rechthoekige opening wordt aan de linker en rechter zijde ondersteund door een muurstijl. Boven het portaal zijn drie gestucte rozetten aangebracht. In de achterwand van het portaal bevindt zich de kleine ingang van de grafkapel die grotendeels is afgesloten door een ronde schijfvormige wentelsteen. Boven de ingang is een reeks kleine nisjes uitgespaard. Rechts van het portaal bevindt zich een kleine stenen trap die naar de top van de rots leidt. Op het flankerende bankje was oorspronkelijk een beeld van de schreiende Maria Magdalena geplaatst. In de overige zijden zijn enkele kleine openingen voor de grafkapel gerealiseerd. De rotswand is voorzien van ingekraste teksten.

- Van architectuurhistorische waarde als essentieel onderdeel van een verzameling aan de bijbelse geschiedenis ontleende gebouwen en objecten in oosterse stijl (qua ontwerp, materiaalgebruik en/of detaillering), alsmede van bijzonder belang voor het oeuvre van beeldend kunstenaar P. Gerrits. Dit vrij gaaf bewaard gebleven onderdeel van een voormalig devotiepark, thans onderdeel van de r.k. begraafplaats, vormt een curiosum binnen de landelijke architectuurgeschiedenis.
- Van stedenbouwkundige waarde als essentieel onderdeel van het complex Heilig-Land-Stichting dat cultuur- en architectuurhistorisch van nationaal belang is. Introduction
The FOURTEENTH STATION "Jesus is laid in the tomb" was executed in 1916-1918 at the behest of the Holy Land Foundation according to designs by Piet Gerrits in the form of an artificially raised stone hill, representing a rock with the carved out HOLY SEPULCHRE. This station was consecrated on All Saints' Day in the year 1918. This object forms part of the theme "Passion of Christ" within the complex of the Holy Land Foundation.
The Holy Sepulchre is situated at the highest point of the hill on which the Roman Catholic cemetery of the Holy Land Foundation is laid out. Until 1988 the cemetery formed part of the adjacent Biblical Open-Air Museum, but has since functioned independently.
Description
The 'rock' executed in concrete and overgrown with plants has an irregular ground plan. On the east side a portal is provided. The simply profiled rectangular opening is supported on the left and right side by a wall pilaster. Above the portal three stuccoed rosettes are applied. In the rear wall of the portal is the small entrance to the sepulchral chapel which is largely closed off by a round disc-shaped winding stone. Above the entrance a series of small niches are provided. To the right of the portal is a small stone stairway leading to the top of the rock. On the flanking bench a statue of the weeping Mary Magdalene was originally placed. On the remaining sides some small openings are provided for the sepulchral chapel. The rock wall is provided with scraped-in texts.
