Inleiding
De in 1915-1916 in opdracht van de Heilig-Land-Stichting aangelegde HOF VAN OLIJVEN bevindt zich in het noordelijk gedeelte van het huidige Bijbels Openluchtmuseum, en is gesitueerd in het zogenaamde Cedrondal. De hof is bereikbaar via een stenen bruggetje over de Cedronbeek. De brug verwijst naar het feit dat de olijfhof voor wie uit Jeruzalem kwam, aan de overkant van de Cedron lag. Binnen de MUREN van de hof bevinden zich een GROT met OLIJFPERS, een GRAFKAPEL en twee stenen BEELDEN naar ontwerp van beeldend kunstenaar P. Gerrits. De hof van olijven maakt binnen het complex van de Heilig-Land-Stichting onderdeel uit van het thema "openbare leven van Christus".
Omschrijving
De OMMURING van de hof bestaat uit onregelmatig gestapelde blokken mergelsteen van verschillende grootte. Bij het bruggetje over de slingerende Cedron is in de muur een poort uitgespaard. In de hof bevindt zich direct achter de poort een kunstmatig aangelegde GROT. Een brede opening aan de voorzijde geeft toegang tot de grot waarin een OLIJFPERS staat opgesteld. Rechts hiervan sluit een rechthoekige GRAFKAPEL aan met gepleisterde koepel en gevels van blokken mergelsteen. Een houten deur verschaft toegang tot de grafkapel van de familie Brenninckmeyer. Het interieur van de kapel bestaat uit een natuurstenen vloer en door P. Gerrits beschilderde wanden en koepel. Op de linkerwand is de verrijzenis afgebeeld: een in het licht badende engel toont aan drie vrouwen het lege graf. Op de achterwand is de verschijning van Christus aan Maria Magdalena afgebeeld: geknielde Maria Magdalena en staande Christus in een landschap met bomen en huizen. Op de rechterwand is de kruisafname afgebeeld: Maria neemt de dode Christus van het kruis (gesigneerd: P. Gerrits). De beschildering van de koepel bestaat uit concentrische cirkels in diverse kleuren.
Voorts bevinden zich in de hof twee kunststenen BEELDEN: de voorover knielende Christus in gebed met Zijn aangezicht ter aarde en een groep van drie slapende apostelen.

Ommuurde HOF VAN OLIJVEN (1915-1916) waarin GROT met OLIJFPERS, GRAFKAPEL en twee stenen BEELDEN.

Introduction
The HOF VAN OLIJVEN (Mount of Olives Garden) laid out in 1915-1916 on commission of the Heilig-Land-Stichting is situated in the northern part of the current Bijbels Openluchtmuseum, and is located in the so-called Cedron valley. The garden is accessible via a stone bridge over the Cedron stream. The bridge refers to the fact that the olive garden, for those coming from Jerusalem, lay on the far side of the Cedron. Within the WALLS of the garden are a GROTTO with OLIVE PRESS, a BURIAL CHAPEL and two stone SCULPTURES designed by sculptor P. Gerrits. The garden of olives forms part of the theme "public life of Christ" within the complex of the Heilig-Land-Stichting.
Description
The WALLING of the garden consists of irregularly stacked blocks of marl stone of various sizes. At the little bridge over the winding Cedron a gate is left open in the wall. In the garden directly behind the gate is an artificially constructed GROTTO. A wide opening at the front gives access to the grotto in which an OLIVE PRESS is positioned. To the right of this adjoins a rectangular BURIAL CHAPEL with rendered dome and walls of blocks of marl stone. A wooden door provides access to the burial chapel of the Brenninckmeyer family. The interior of the chapel consists of a natural stone floor and walls and dome painted by P. Gerrits. On the left wall the resurrection is depicted: an angel bathed in light shows three women the empty tomb. On the rear wall the appearance of Christ to Mary Magdalene is depicted: kneeling Mary Magdalene and standing Christ in a landscape with trees and houses. On the right wall the descent from the cross is depicted: Mary takes the dead Christ from the cross (signed: P. Gerrits). The painting of the dome consists of concentric circles in various colours.
Furthermore, two artificial stone SCULPTURES are situated in the garden: the kneeling Christ in prayer with His face towards the earth and a group of three sleeping apostles.
