Inleiding
Smeedijzeren GASLANTAARN vervaardigd door de Edese Machinefabriek en IJzergieterij HENNEMAN in 1923 als geschenk van de Edese bevolking ter gelegenheid van het vijfentwintig jarig ambtsjubileum van H.M. koningin Wilhelmina. De gaslantaarn in Amsterdamse Schoolstijl bevindt zich sinds 2007 weer op de oorspronkelijke locatie, nl. op de hoek van de Maandereind en de Nieuwe Stationsweg.
Omschrijving
GASLANTAARN bestaande uit een bakstenen sokkel waarop een smeedijzeren bovenbouw. De sokkel met vierkante plattegrond bestaat uit drie geledingen met vier gelijke zijden. De sokkel verjongt naar boven. De eerste geleding, opgetrokken in kruisverband, wordt afgesloten door een rollaag waarboven een smallere tweede geleding. In de derde geleding is verticaal metselwerk toegepast waarop de smeedijzeren lantaarn is bevestigd. De lantaarn bestaat uit vier stijlen, die aan de boven- en onderzijde naar buiten krullen. Tussen de stijlen bevindt zich een decoratieve, spiraalvormige invulling. Hierboven verjongt de lantaarn, bestaande uit vier dubbele stijlen aan de onderzijde omsloten door twee ijzeren banden, aan de bovenzijde door drie ijzeren banden. De lantaarn wordt afgesloten door een kleine, vierzijdige, uitgezwenkte spits. Aan de spits hangt een dubbele ring met daarin de tekst `WILHELMINA 9 SEPT. 1898-1923'. De ring is bevestigd aan de spits door middel van vier ojiefvormige beugels en door middel van twee staven aan de vier dubbele stijlen. Aan de ring hangen vier regelmatig verdeelde gasarmaturen.

Wrought-iron GAS LAMP manufactured by the Ede Machine Factory and Iron Foundry HENNEMAN in 1923 as a gift from the Ede population on the occasion of the twenty-five year jubilee of H.M. Queen Wilhelmina's service. The gas lamp in Amsterdam School style has been located since 2007 on the original site, namely on the corner of the Maandereind and the Nieuwe Stationsweg.
Description
GAS LAMP consisting of a brick base on which wrought-iron superstructure. The base with square plan consists of three storeys with four equal sides. The base tapers upwards. The first storey, built in English bond, is concluded by a roll moulding above which a narrower second storey. In the third storey vertical brickwork has been applied on which the wrought-iron lamp is fixed. The lamp consists of four stiles, which curl outwards at the top and bottom. Between the stiles there is decorative, spiral-shaped infill. Above this the lamp tapers, consisting of four double stiles at the bottom enclosed by two iron bands, at the top by three iron bands. The lamp is concluded by a small, four-sided, splayed spire. Hanging from the spire is a double ring bearing the text 'WILHELMINA 9 SEPT. 1898-1923'. The ring is attached to the spire by means of four ogee-shaped brackets and by means of two rods to the four double stiles. Four evenly distributed gas fittings hang from the ring.
