GASFABRIEK. Het hoofdgebouw van de gasfabriek is gebouwd in 1904-1905 naar ontwerp van gemeente-architect H. Noorman Kzn. Het gebouw bood oorspronkelijk plaats aan de stokerij (linkerdeel) en de natte en droge zuivering (middendeel). In 1907 is het pand uitgebreid met een tweede gebouw voor droge zuivering (rechterdeel) en kort daarna met een condensatietoren (achterzijde). Het fabrieksgebouw ligt centraal op het terrein. Het is een pand van twee bouwlagen, opgetrokken in baksteen (nu gedeeltelijk wit gesausd) en verblendsteen met een L-vormige plattegrond. Het pand heeft een damengesteld dak bestaande uit twee parallelle zadeldaken, verbonden door een zadeldak. Het dak is gedekt door gesmoorde mulden en gesmoorde verbeterde Hollandse pannen. De voorgevel bestaat uit twee topgevels en een middendeel. De topgevels zijn geleed door lisenen en ronde bogen. Description
GAS WORKS. The main building of the gas works was built in 1904-1905 to a design by municipal architect H. Noorman Kzn. The building originally housed the stoking area (left section) and the wet and dry purification (middle section). In 1907 the building was extended with a second building for dry purification (right section) and shortly after with a condensation tower (rear). The factory building is centrally located on the site. It is a two-storey building, constructed in brick (now partially whitewashed) and facing brick with an L-shaped plan. The building has a composite roof consisting of two parallel gabled roofs, connected by a gabled roof. The roof is covered with slurred pantiles and slurred improved Dutch tiles. The front facade consists of two stepped gables and a middle section. The stepped gables are articulated by pilasters and round arches. The left stepped gable is slightly higher and provided with the inscription 'Gemeente Gasfabriek. 1904'. The stepped gables have lattice work and roof cresting. The windows and doors have all been altered. The side gables have been altered. The rear gable has two stepped gables, virtually identical to the front facade. On the right is the condensation tower from 1910 detailed in the same manner as the stepped gables. The interior still has the original roof truss structure with iron trusses.
