Inleiding
De "Elderse molen" staat aan de oostzijde van de weg Geldrop - Helmond en is in 1851 gebouwd als grondzeiler met conische bakstenen romp. In een latere fase is de Elderse molen verhoogd en van een berg voorzien. De berg is in 1941-1943 vervangen door een ronde woning. De Elderse molen heeft geen versieringen.
Omschrijving
De als bergmolen uitgevoerde bakstenen bovenkruier is in 1851 gebouwd als grondzeiler. Bij een latere verhoging tot bergmolen werd de romp met een nagenoeg cylindrisch bakstenen gedeelte verhoogd. De molen bestaat uit vijf verdiepingen. De houten kap is op het houten beschot voorzien van een asfaltbedekking (oorspronkelijk dakleer). De kap wordt gekruid met een kruibok aan een houten staartwerk. In de kap ligt een houten bovenas welke voorzien is van een gietijzeren kop. De molen bezit twee stalen roeden welke oud-Hollands zijn opgehekt. Op het bovenschijf en de steenkuipen na, is het gaande werk met 1 koppel blauwe 17der stenen, in de molen compleet aanwezig.
Waardering
De Elderse molen uit 1851 heeft historische betekenis als monument van bedrijf en techniek, de aanwezigheid van de rudimentaire molenbiotoop genereert landschappelijke en historische belevingswaarden, de gaafheid van het casco alsook van grote delen van het interieur en inrichting dragen bij aan het bouwhistorisch belang van het object. Voorts zijn bouwtechnische en bouwhistorische waarden aanwezig doordat de molen als representant van een ronde stenen grondzeiler-korenmolen ooit tot bergmolen is verhoogd. Op basis van deze karakteristieken bezit de Elderse molen te Mierlo cultuurhistorische waarde en vertegenwoordigt het object algemeen belang.
