Inleiding
Voormalig SCHOOLGEBOUW St. Vincentius (6), gebouwd als onderdeel van het COMPLEX Gerardus Majellakerk door de architect Jan Stuyt, 1926. Het schoolgebouw, een U.L.O. voor jongens in rationalistische trant, ligt op de hoek van de Halmaheirastraat en de Batjanstraat binnen de rooilijnen van het rechthoekige terrein van de R.K enclave rond de kerk.
Omschrijving
Het langwerpige pand, dat evenwijdig aan de straat is gelegen, telt drie bouwlagen onder een omlopend schilddak met in de dakschilden een driehoekige dakkapel (met raampjes met meerroedige verdeling) en op de uiteinde van de nokas een schoorsteen. De (moderne) bakgoot is in het dakoverstek opgenomen dat aan de onderzijde middels latwerk decoratief is ingedeeld. De gevels zijn in baksteen (kruisverband) opgetrokken en ter hoogte van de plint voorzien van twee omlopende sierbanden van rode baksteen. Een kleurrijk omlopend fries van siermetselwerk van een dubbel zig-zagmotief sluit de gevels af. De vensters worden allen door een betonnen rand omlijst en rusten op hardstenen lekdorpels.
De voorgevel (Batjanstraat) bezit drie vensterassen van drie gekoppelde stolpramen met gedeeld bovenlicht. De vensters in de derde bouwlaag onderbreken het fries.
De rechter zijgevel (Halmaheirastraat) is blind uitgevoerd behoudens een portiek en een venster per verdieping rechts in de gevel. Ter hoogte van de verdiepingsvloeren bevindt zich beneden een gevelsteen met: 'ST. VINCENTIUS / U.L.O. SCHOOL' en boven in een ruitvormige steen: 'A / MCMXXVI / D' (1926).
De linker zijgevel is geheel blind uitgevoerd.

Former SCHOOL BUILDING St. Vincentius (6), built as part of the COMPLEX Gerardus Majellakerk by architect Jan Stuyt, 1926. The school building, a U.L.O. for boys in rationalist style, is located on the corner of the Halmaheirastraat and the Batjanstraat within the building lines of the rectangular site of the R.K enclave around the church.
Description
The elongated building, which is positioned parallel to the street, has three storeys under a continuous hipped roof with in the roof pitches a triangular roof dormer (with windows with multiple glazing bars) and on the ends of the ridge a chimney. The (modern) rainwater gutter is incorporated in the roof overhang which is decoratively divided at the underside by means of latticework. The facades are constructed in brick (Flemish bond) and at the level of the plinth are provided with two continuous ornamental bands of red brick. A colourful continuous frieze of decorative brickwork of a double zigzag motif closes off the facades. All windows are framed by a concrete edge and rest on hardstone drip mouldings.
The front facade (Batjanstraat) has three window bays of three coupled sash windows with shared fanlight. The windows in the third storey interrupt the frieze.
The right side facade (Halmaheirastraat) is executed blind except for a porch and a window per storey on the right in the facade. At the level of the storey floors below is a facade stone with: 'ST. VINCENTIUS / U.L.O. SCHOOL' and above in a diamond-shaped stone: 'A / MCMXXVI / D' (1926).
The left side facade is entirely executed blind.
