Inleiding
Voormalige KINDERBEWAARPLAATS (5) gebouwd als onderdeel van het COMPLEX Gerardus Majellakerk door de architect Jan Stuyt, 1926. Het eenlagig schoolgebouw, in rationalistische trant, ligt tussen de jongens- en meisjesschool, binnen de rooilijnen van het rechthoekige terrein van de R.K enclave rond de kerk.
Omschrijving
Het in grondplan rechthoekige pand heeft één bouwlaag, is opgetrokken in baksteen (kruisverband) en heeft een omlopend schilddak met gesmoorde pannen. De evenwijdig aan de straat gelegen nokas, uitgerust met op de uiteinden zinken pirons, zijn evenals de hoekkepers voorzien van schubvorsten. Het dakoverstek bevat de bakgoot die door gesneden klossen wordt ondersteund. De gevels hebben beneden drie omlopende banden van rode bakstenen metsellagen en worden boven afgesloten door een eveneens omlopend fries van siermetselwerk afgewisseld met kleurige tegels. De voorgevel bevat drie groepen van vensters. Links komen vier draairamen met bovenlicht en een deur voor. De deur rust op een houten dorpel. In het midden bevinden zich vijf identieke ramen en rechts twee ramen en een deurpartij in een portiek, door een betonnen lijst omgeven en met een ijzeren hekwerk te weerszijden. De linker zijgevel is blind uitgevoerd en heeft onderbroken muurwerk.
De rechter zijgevel bevat enkel drie dichtgezette ramen en bezit soortgelijk onderbroken muurwerk als de linker zijgevel.
Interieur In het interieur is de oorspronkelijke indeling nog redelijk gaaf. In de decoratie zijn figuratieve tegels opgenomen, passend bij het oorspronkelijke karakter van een kinderbewaarschool.

Former NURSERY SCHOOL (5) built as part of the COMPLEX Gerardus Majellakerk by architect Jan Stuyt, 1926. The single-storey school building, in rationalist style, lies between the boys' and girls' school, within the building lines of the rectangular site of the R.K enclave around the church.
Description
The building, rectangular in plan, has one storey, is constructed in brick (Flemish bond) and has a continuous hipped roof with damped tiles. The ridge, positioned parallel to the street and equipped with zinc finials on the ends, as well as the hip rafters are provided with decorative bargeboards. The roof overhang contains the rainwater gutter which is supported by carved brackets. The facades have below three continuous bands of red brick courses and are closed off above by an equally continuous frieze of decorative brickwork alternated with coloured tiles. The front facade contains three groups of windows. On the left are four casement windows with fanlight and a door. The door rests on a wooden drip moulding. In the middle are five identical windows and on the right two windows and a door arrangement in a porch, surrounded by a concrete edge and with iron railwork on either side. The left side facade is executed blind and has interrupted brickwork.
The right side facade contains only three blocked-up windows and has similar interrupted brickwork as the left side facade.
Interior In the interior the original layout is still reasonably intact. Figurative tiles have been incorporated in the decoration, fitting with the original character of a nursery school.
