Inleiding

Omstreeks 1900 in de stijl van het traditionalisme gebouwde voormalige herberg en ontspanningsruimte bestemd voor de seizoensarbeiders in de turfstrooiselfabricage. Het ontwerp wordt toegeschreven aan architect L. Kooken uit Eindhoven.

Het pand is gesitueerd aan de toegangsweg van Griendtsveen nabij een reeks voormalige arbeiderswoningen.

Omschrijving

Voormalige herberg op een rechthoekige plattegrond in lengterichting. Het pand telt een bouwlaag en wordt afgedekt met een wolfsdak met betonpannen. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is bruine en gele baksteen. Metselwerk in kruisverband. Rechthoekige houten deuren. Rechthoekige houten kruiskozijnen met kleine roedeverdeling en halve luiken. Vensters met boogvormige vulstukken met hierin decoratief metselwerk. Hardstenen dorpelstenen.

Voorgevel met twee gespiegelde gevelhelften. Lage gepleisterde plint. In het middendeel van de voorgevel in totaal vier rechthoekige houten kruiskozijnen met kleine roedeverdeling. Vensters met segmentboogvormige vulstukken met hierin decoratief metselwerk. In de voorgevel twee dakkapellen met hierin tot vensterkozijn verbouwde zolderluiken. Dak met overstek. Boogfriezen onder de dakrand. De twee dakvensters in het voorgeveldakvlak dateren van omstreeks 1995. Op de uiteinden van de voorgevel aan beide zijden een deur met daarboven twee kleine rechthoekige venstertjes.

Aan de linkerzijgevel een uitbouw met asymmetrisch zadeldak ten behoeve van het trappenhuis. In de zijgevel van deze uitbouw een niet authentiek rechthoekig venster van omstreeks 1995. Aan de bovenzijde van dit venster een authentiek rechthoekig venster met bovenlicht met roedeverdeling en twee authentieke smalle vensters. In de terugliggende zijgevel in de eerste bouwlaag een rechthoekig venster met bovenlicht met roedeverdeling. In de topgevel van de linkerzijgevel een rechthoekig venster. In de achtergevel van de trappenhuisuitbouw een rechthoekige houten deur.

De rechterzijgevel heeft een gelijksoortige opzet met eveneens een trappenhuisuitbouw met asymmetrisch zadeldak.

De achtergevel telt in totaal vier rechthoekige houten kruiskozijnen met bovenlichten met roedeverdeling en met halve houten luiken. Boogfriezen onder de dakrand. Vier niet authentieke dakvensters in het dakvlak.
