Inleiding
Vrijstaand woonhuis gebouwd voor het stafpersoneel van de firma Van der Griendt.
De firma Van der Griendt was verantwoordelijk voor de turfstrooiselwinning in en rond Griendtsveen. Van de oorspronkelijk 12 woningen resteren nog 10 woningen. Slechts vier van deze tien panden verkeren in een redelijk gave staat. De panden werden omstreeks 1900 gebouwd in een tradionalistische stijl met elementen van de Engelse landhuisstijl. Het ontwerp wordt toegeschreven aan architect L. Kooken uit Eindhoven.
Omschrijving
De basis van het ontwerp is een L-vormig grondplan. Dit pand vormt hierop een variatie. Het pand telt een bouwlaag plus dakverdieping en wordt afgedekt met zadeldaken met betonpannen. Het zadeldak bezit wolfseinden. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen en hout. Gecementeerde plint.
Rechthoekige houten vensters en deuren. Bovenlichten met kleine roedeverdeling. Rechterdeel voorgevel vooruitspringend met in de eerste bouwlaag een driedelig venster. De houten vensterluiken zijn niet authentiek. Gecementeerde dorpelsteen en gebogen strek.
Geveldeel uitlopend in een topgevel met houten beschot met hierin een dubbel venster. Dak met overstek.
Linkerdeel voorgevel iets terugliggend onder een luifelvormig doorlopend dakgedeelte. De luifel rust op een viertal houten kolommen. In het rechterdeel van het terugliggend geveldeel de rechthoekige houten voordeur met bovenlicht. Deze voordeur is authentiek. Het venster links van de deur is eveneens authentiek en heeft een bovenlicht met roedeverdeling en houten luiken. In het dakvlak boven de voorgevel een klein dakvenster van omstreeks 1960.
Linkerzijgevel met in de eerste bouwlaag een rechthoekig houten venster met authentiek kozijn en met gebogen strek. Linkerzijgevel loopt uit in een topgevel met houten beschot met hierin een klein dubbel venster. In de zijgevel van de uitbouw aan de achtergevel een klein rechthoekig venster.
Aan de rechterzijde een uitbouw in een bouwlaag met lessenaarsdak. In de achtergevel van dit bouwdeel een niet authentiek rechthoekig houten venster. In de linkerzijgevel van deze uitbouw een rechthoekige houten deur van omstreeks 1960. Deze uitbouw heeft een halfsteens metselverband.
In het linkerdeel van de achtergevel van het woonhuis een rechthoekig houten venster met bovenlicht met roedeverdeling. Gebogen strek en kleine houten luiken.
De rechterzijgevel telt een rechthoekig venster met een bovenlicht met kleine roedeverdeling en gebogen strek. Rechts van dit venster een geprofileerd schoorsteenkanaal. Een klein keldervenster.
De structuur van het interieur is in beperkte mate in tact hetgeen blijkt uit de situering van gang, trappenhuis en kamers.
Waardering
De voormalige stafwoning aan de Apostelweg 6 bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van de huisvesting van het personeel van een firma voor de fabricage van turfstrooisel. De woning bezit architectuurhistorische waarde wegens de toegepaste bouwstijl en de ornamentiek. Ensemblewaarde bezit deze stafwoning als onderdeel van een groter complex woningen gebouwd volgens een bepaalde opzet, van oorspronkelijk twee maal zes woningen, op korte afstand van de villa van de directeur van de firma.
De woning is van algemeen belang op grond van de hoge mate van cultuurhistorische en architectuurhistorische zeldzaamheid en de gaafheid.

Detached residential house built for the staff of the Van der Griendt company.
The Van der Griendt company was responsible for peat litter extraction in and around Griendtsveen. Of the originally 12 houses, 10 remain. Only four of these ten buildings are in a reasonably good state of preservation. The buildings were constructed around 1900 in a traditionalist style with elements of the English country house style. Description
The basis of the design is an L-shaped floor plan. This building forms a variation on this. The building has one storey plus attic storey and is covered with gabled roofs with concrete tiles. The gabled roof has half-hipped ends. The building material used is brick and wood. Cemented plinth.

The window to the left of the door is also authentic and has a fanlight with glazing bars and wooden shutters. In the roof plane above the front facade a small roof window from around 1960.

On the right side an extension in one storey with a lean-to roof. In the rear facade of this building section a non-authentic rectangular wooden window. In the left side facade of this extension a rectangular wooden door from around 1960. This extension has half-brick bond.
In the left part of the rear facade of the house a rectangular wooden window with fanlight with glazing bars. Curved springer and small wooden shutters.
The right side facade has a rectangular window with a fanlight with small glazing bars and curved springer. To the right of this window a profiled chimney flue. A small cellar window.
The structure of the interior is intact to a limited extent as evidenced by the arrangement of corridor, stairwell and rooms.
Valuation
The former staff house at Apostelweg 6 has cultural-historical value as an example of the housing of personnel of a company for the manufacture of peat litter. The house has architectural-historical value due to the building style applied and the ornamentation.
