Inleiding
Stalen ophaalbrug gelegen nabij de Ericaweg in Griendtsveen. De in totaal vier ophaalbruggen werden gebouwd omstreeks 1905. Deze dienden en dienen voor de doorgang van het verkeer in dit dorp.

Stalen ophaalbrug van het zogenoemde type A2.
Het val heeft een draagconstructie van stalen liggers met daaroverheen een houten dek. De ophaalbrug is gebouwd volgens het Amsterdamse type. De hameipoort bestaat uit twee vrijstaande hameistijlen, die onderling slechts door twee trekstangen zijn verbonden. Deze trekstangen zijn in het midden naar elkaar gebogen en aan elkaar gekoppeld. Elk van beide hameistijlen is opgebouwd uit twee U-profielen die ruggelings met het lijf tegen de flenzen van een I-profiel zijn geklonken. Boven de stijlen is een stalen kapje in de vorm van een tentdak geplaatst. De hameistijlen worden gesteund door elk twee schoren van rondstaal in langsrichting en een in dwarsrichting.
Voor de balanspriemen is een kleiner profiel toegepast. Het deel vanaf het uiteinde bij de broek tot iets voorbij het draaipunt boven de val is dubbel uitgevoerd, waarbij de twee I-liggers boven elkaar zijn geplaatst. In plaats van een constructie met regels en diagonalen is tussen de beide balanspriemen een raamwerk aangebracht van zes rechthoekige vakken. Ook de regels van dit raamwerk bestaan grotendeels uit twee boven elkaar geplaatste I-balken. De tussenlangsregel is alleen bij de bij de broek gelegen vakken dubbel uitgevoerd. Bij dit type ontbreekt tevens de regel tussen de uiteinden van de balanspriemen boven de val. De brug is in het begin van de jaren '90 van de 20ste eeuw gerestaureerd. Waarschijnlijk is de constructie oorspronkelijk.

De ophaalbrug is van geschiedkundig belang voor de ontwikkeling van het veendorp Griendtsveen. De brug is tevens van bouwhistorisch belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van ophaalbruggen en voor de geschiedenis van de bouwtechniek. De brug bezit hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteiten.
