Omschrijving
HEKWERK uit 1898, ter begrenzing van het perceel Kronenburgersingel 231. Het hekwerk bestaat uit vier in formaat alternerende baksteenkolommen met geprofileerde hoekelementen in kunststeen en meerzijdig, spits toelopende afsluitingen met een bolbekroning. Tussen de kolommen bevindt zich een omlopend smeedijzeren hek, waarvan vooral de draaiende delen zorgvuldig zijn gedetailleerd. Het hek bevindt zich op een bakstenen voetmuurtje.
Waardering
HEKWERK uit 1898, ontworpen door de architecten Van de Pluijm & Gielen in combinatie met het herenhuis.
- Van architectuurhistorische waarde als goed bewaard voorbeeld van een hekwerk dat in stijl aansluit bij het naastgelegen herenhuis. Het plaatsen van hekwerken is typerend voor de bebouwing van het Singelgebied. Er is een sterke ensemblewaarde en een stijlovereenkomst met het herenhuis.
- Van stedenbouwkundige waarde als onderdeel van het vanuit rijkswege beschermde deel van de binnenstad van Nijmegen, vanwege de zeer markante hoekligging en vanwege de situering van het hek aan de rand van het Kronenburgerpark, alwaar het in combinatie met het hekwerk en de aanwezige groenaanleg een karakteristiek geheel vormt.

Description
FENCING from 1898, demarcating the plot at Kronenburgersingel 231. The fencing consists of four alternating brick columns in format with profiled corner elements in artificial stone and multi-sided, sharply tapering finials with a ball coping. Between the columns there is a continuous wrought-iron fence, of which especially the rotating parts are carefully detailed. The fence stands on a brick plinth wall.
