Inleiding.
Het TEHUIS voor bejaarde mannen, bekend als de "Van Lanschot's stichting" is gelegen aan de oostelijke zijde van de Sint Janssingel en sluit aan op de noordzijde van het Mariënburgklooster. Het tehuis is opgericht door de bankier Van Lanschot, ten behoeve van de huisvesting en verzorging van bejaarde oud-medewerkers van deze bank. De verzorging van de bewoners was in handen van Zusters van de Sociëteit van Jezus, Maria en Jozef, die gehuisvest waren in het Mariënburgklooster.
Er was dan ook een directe verbinding tussen het klooster en het tehuis. Het tehuis werd gebouwd in 1894 en toont een vermenging van stijlelementen van de Neo-Renaissance en de Neo-Gotiek. Inwendig is het tehuis gemoderniseerd.
Omschrijving.
Tweelaags gebouw onder een plat dak met schilden. Het schild aan de voorzijde is gedekt met leien, aan de achterzijde met kruispannen. Het gebouw heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond, met aan de achterzijde een éénlaags aanbouw onder schilddak, gedekt met kruispannen. Boven de voorgevel een geprofileerde gootlijst op consoles. Houten dakkapellen met pirons. Gevels opgetrokken in machinale baksteen, in de voorgevel met hardstenen plint en dorpellijsten. Sierankers. Geleding door middel van speklagen. Onder de dorpellijst ter hoogte van de eerste verdieping een tandlijst. De voorgevel heeft rechts van het midden, ter plaatse van de ingangspartij een risaliet met een Neo-Renaissance trapgevel, versierd met natuurstenen klauwstukken, tympaan en pirons. De ingangspartij bestaat uit een natuurstenen poortje. Rondboog tussen Ionische pilasters, waarboven een kroonlijst en een tympaan met schelpversiering, rustend op consoles met kopjes.
In de kroonlijst de tekst: "van Lanschot's Stichting", hieronder twee jaartalstenen "Anno" "1894" met cartouche-omlijsting. In de poort een opgeklampte deur onder een rondbogig bovenlicht met sierrooster. Boven de poort een tweetal gevelstenen, waarin een torentje met drie bomen (links) en een omgekeerd anker (rechts). Boven de ingang, op de eerste verdieping twee gekoppelde rechtgesloten vensters onder ontlastingsbogen, Hierin tweeruits ramen. Ter hoogte van de zolder een tweelichtvenster onder ontlastingsboog. De gevel is op begane grond en eerste verdieping voorzien van rechtgesloten vensters onder ontlastingsbogen met siermetselwerk in de boogvullingen. Hierin zesruits ramen. De sober uitgevoerde achtergevel wordt aan de bovenzijde afgesloten door een tandlijst met rollaag. Op de begane grond en eerste verdieping T-vensters onder ontlastingsboog. Geheel rechts op de begane grond een breed drielichtvenster. Links de éénlaags aanbouw met rechtgesloten vensters onder strek. Direct rechts hiervan de achteringang, gelegen in een door een segmentboog afgesloten portaal. Inwendig heeft het tehuis een centrale gang, met aan weerszijden hiervan, tegen voor- en achtergevel vier vertrekken. Rechts de hal, met hierachter het trappenhuis.
Achter het trappenhuis een doorgang naar het klooster. Het inwendige van het tehuis is, met uitzondering van de houten trap met balusters, gemoderniseerd.
Waardering.
Het tehuis van de "Van Lanschot's Stichting" is van algemeen belang. Het object bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische en geestelijke ontwikkeling: het vormt een goede illustratie van de zorg voor ouden van dagen vanuit een particulier initiatief. Voorts vormt het tehuis voor bejaarden, verbonden aan een klooster, een illustratie van een typologische ontwikkeling. Het object bezit architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de bijzonder rijke detaillering van het tehuis, met name het rijk uitgevoerde Neo-Renaissance poortje. Het object bezit als aan het Mariënburgklooster verbonden tehuis ensemblewaarde als essentieel onderdeel van dit omvangrijke kloostercomplex, dat cultuurhistorisch van nationaal belang is. Als beeldbepalend pand is het voorts van belang voor het aanzien van de beschermde binnenstad van 's-Hertogenbosch. Het tehuis is tot slot van belang vanwege de gaafheid van het exterieur en vanwege typologische en functionele zeldzaamheid.

The HOME for elderly men, known as the "Van Lanschot's Foundation" is located on the eastern side of Sint Janssingel and adjoins the northern side of the Mariënburg monastery. The home was established by the banker Van Lanschot, for the purposes of housing and care of elderly former employees of this bank. The care of the residents was in the hands of Sisters of the Society of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, who were housed in the Mariënburg monastery.

Wooden roof dormers with pirons. Facades of machine-made brick, in the front facade with hardstone plinth and sill strings. Ornamental wall anchors. Articulation by means of brick courses. Below the sill string at first floor level a dentil course. The front facade has, to the right of centre, at the location of the entrance section a risalit with a Neo-Renaissance stepped gable, decorated with natural stone corner pieces, tympanum and pirons. The entrance section consists of a natural stone portal. Round arch between Ionic pilasters, above which a cornice and a tympanum with shell decoration, resting on consoles with heads.

Far right at ground floor a wide three-light window. To the left the single-storey extension with round-arched windows beneath a lintel. Immediately to the right of this the rear entrance, located in a portal terminated by a segmental arch. Internally the home has a central corridor, with on either side of this, against front and rear facades four rooms. To the right the hall, with behind it the stairwell.
Behind the stairwell a passage to the monastery. The interior of the home, with the exception of the wooden staircase with balusters, has been modernised.
Valuation.
The home of the "Van Lanschot's Foundation" is of general interest. The object possesses cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a socio-economic and spiritual development: it is a good illustration of care for the elderly from private initiative.
