Inleiding
Het WOONHUIS werd in vierde kwart 19e eeuw gebouwd in de stijl van het Eclectiscisme met een sober uitgevoerde voorgevel maakt onderdeel uit van de gesloten gevelwand langs de Merwekade. De Merwekade werd aangelegd tussen 1862 en 1865 en deed dienst als aanlegplaats voor sleepboten, kolen-, vracht- en passagiersschepen. De voorgevels van de panden aan de Merwekade zijn op het noorden gericht en kijken uit op het punt waar de rivieren de Oude Maas, de Noord en de Beneden Merwede samenkomen. De Merwekade ligt binnen het beschermd stadsgezicht van Dordrecht.
Het interieur van het pand is ingrijpend gewijzigd. De vensters zijn vernieuwd.
Omschrijving
Vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken woonhuis, bestaande uit drie bouwlagen onder met gesmoorde kruispannen gedekt schilddak. De gepleisterde voorgevel op hardstenen plint wordt afgesloten door een kroonlijst. De rechtgesloten vensters zijn voorzien van een geprofileerde gestucte omlijsting.
Op de begane grond links de entree, bestaande uit een houten deur met siersmeedijzeren deurrooster en bovenlicht. Rechts daarnaast twee vensters met bovenlicht. De stijlen van de kozijnen gaan door in de plint. Tussen de begane grond en de verdieping is een rechthoekig spaarveld aangebracht.
Op de verdieping twee vensters met bovenlicht en op de tweede verdieping twee openslaande vensters.

Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde: de gevels van de panden aan de Merwekade zijn een uitdrukking van een economische ontwikkeling binnen de aan de scheepvaart verwante bedrijfstakken.

The DWELLING HOUSE was built in the fourth quarter of the 19th century in the style of Eclecticism with a soberly executed front facade which forms part of the closed facade wall along the Merwekade. The Merwekade was laid out between 1862 and 1865 and served as a mooring place for tugboats, coal, freight and passenger ships. The front facades of the buildings on the Merwekade are oriented to the north and look out over the point where the rivers the Oude Maas, the Noord and the Beneden Merwede converge. The Merwekade lies within the protected townscape of Dordrecht.
The interior of the building has been substantially altered. The windows have been renewed.
Description
A dwelling house built from a rectangular floor plan, consisting of three storeys under a hipped roof covered with smoked cross tiles. The plastered front facade on a hardstone plinth is terminated by a cornice. The rectangular-profiled windows are provided with a profiled stuccoed surround.
On the ground floor to the left the entrance, consisting of a wooden door with ornamental wrought-iron door grille and fanlight. To the right of it two windows with fanlight. The stiles of the sashes extend into the plinth. Between the ground floor and the first floor a rectangular spandrel panel is inserted.
