Inleiding
Het WOONHUIS annex KANTOOR werd in vierde kwart van de 19e eeuw gebouwd in de stijl van het Eclectiscisme. De voorgevel maakt onderdeel uit van de gesloten gevelwand langs de Merwekade. De Merwekade werd aangelegd tussen 1862 en 1865 en deed dienst als aanlegplaats voor sleepboten, kolen-, vracht- en passagiersschepen. De voorgevels van de panden aan de Merwekade zijn op het noorden gericht en kijken uit op het punt waar de rivieren de Oude Maas, de Noord en de Beneden Merwede samenkomen. De Merwekade ligt binnen het beschermd stadsgezicht van Dordrecht.
Het interieur van het pand is ingrijpend gewijzigd. De deur is niet origineel.
Omschrijving
Vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond, in baksteen opgetrokken pand, bestaande uit twee bouwlagen onder afgeknot schilddak waarvan de dakschilden gedekt zijn met gesmoorde tuile du Nord. De bakstenen voorgevel heeft een houten onderpui op hardstenen plint. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een gestucte kroonlijst.
Op de begane grond rechts in de pui de entree, gevormd door een houten deur met bovenlicht. Links twee grote rechtgesloten vensters met bovenlicht. Tussen de begane grond en de verdieping is een gestucte lijst aangebracht ter afsluiting van de pui.
Op de verdieping twee vensters met schuiframen en tweeruits bovenlicht. De bovenhoeken van de kozijnen zijn afgerond. De vensters zijn voorzien van een gestucte omlijsting bekroond door een kuifje.
De kroonlijst heeft een vakindeling. Daarboven, in het midden van het dakschild een dakkapel met openslaande ramen met twee ruiten per raam. De dakkapel is voorzien van gecannelleerde pilasters.

Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde: de gevels van de panden aan de Merwekade zijn een uitdrukking van een economische ontwikkeling binnen de aan de scheepvaart verwante bedrijfstakken.

Introduction
The DWELLING HOUSE together with OFFICE was built in the fourth quarter of the 19th century in the style of Eclecticism. The front facade forms part of the closed facade wall along the Merwekade. The Merwekade was laid out between 1862 and 1865 and served as a mooring place for tugboats, coal, freight and passenger ships. The front facades of the buildings on the Merwekade are oriented to the north and look out over the point where the rivers the Oude Maas, the Noord and the Beneden Merwede converge. The Merwekade lies within the protected townscape of Dordrecht.
The interior of the building has been substantially altered. The door is not original.
Description
A building built from a rectangular floor plan in brick, consisting of two storeys under a truncated hipped roof, the roof tiles of which are covered with smoked tuile du Nord. The brick front facade has a wooden shopfront on a hardstone plinth. The facade is terminated by a stuccoed cornice.
On the ground floor to the right in the shopfront the entrance, formed by a wooden door with fanlight. To the left two large rectangular-profiled windows with fanlight. Between the ground floor and the first floor a stuccoed stringcourse is installed to terminate the shopfront.
On the first floor two windows with sash frames and two-light fanlight. The top corners of the sashes are rounded. The windows are provided with a stuccoed surround crowned by a small crest.
The cornice has a compartmented division. Above it, in the middle of the roof slope a dormer window with casement windows with two panes per sash. The dormer window is provided with fluted pilasters.
