Inleiding
In 1872 gebouwd WOONHUIS in de stijl van het Eclecticisme. De sobere voorgevel maakt deel uit van de gesloten gevelwand langs de Merwekade. De Merwekade werd aangelegd tussen 1862 en 1865 en deed dienst als aanlegplaats voor sleepboten, kolen-, vracht- en passagiersschepen. De voorgevels van de panden aan de Merwekade zijn op het noorden gericht en kijken uit op het punt waar de rivieren de Oude Maas, de Noord en de Beneden Merwede samenkomen. De Merwekade ligt binnen het beschermd stadsgezicht van Dordrecht.
Het interieur van het pand is ingrijpend gewijzigd. De erker werd later toegevoegd en is een keer vernieuwd.
Omschrijving
Vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken woonhuis bestaande uit drie bouwlagen onder een met verbeterde Hollandse pannen gedekt schilddak.
De bakstenen voorgevel op hardstenen plint wordt afgesloten door een geprofileerde kroonlijst. De vensters zijn voorzien van getoogde kozijnen onder een getoogde bakstenen strek.
Ter hoogte van de eerste verdieping een grote rechthoekige houten erker. Rechts op de begane grond de entree, bestaande uit een deur met siersmeedijzeren deurrooster en getoogd bovenlicht. Links twee vensters met schuiframen.
De verdiepingserker is opgebouwd uit een uit rechthoeken bestaand houten raamwerk, waarvan de borstwering is opgevuld met houten panelen. Hierboven een samengesteld venster met in de bovenlichten groen gekleurd glas.
Op de tweede verdieping drie tweeruitsvensters met brede gestucte omlijsting. In de hardstenen plint is het jaartal 1872 en de initialen "JvdHT" aangebracht.

A DWELLING HOUSE built in 1872 in the style of Eclecticism. The sober front facade forms part of the closed facade wall along the Merwekade.
