Inleiding
Halve maanvormig aangelegd ensemble HERENHUIZEN deel uitmakend van het complex de Rozenhof, met nummers 1 t/m 19 uit 1898 en woningen 21 t/m 31 uit 1912 naar ontwerp van H.A. Korthals en L.P. Joosten. Het blok is gelegen ten westen van de Villa Rozenhof.
Omschrijving
De herenhuizen nummer 1 t/m 19 zijn opgetrokken over twee bouwlagen met een ruime zolderverdieping onder een afgeknot zadeldak. Door de plaatsing van de huizen in een gebogen gevelwand varieert de hoofdvorm van de plattegronden van rechthoekig tot trapeziumvormig. De huizen hebben drie vensterassen brede voorgevels met afzonderlijke detaillering van geglazuurde baksteen, rode, gele of groene verblendsteen, pleisterwerk of natuursteen, gevarieerde topgevels (trap- of tuitgevels) en afwisselend geplaatste balkons. De voordeuren zijn telkens gespiegeld en bevinden zich geheel rechts of links. Alle vensteropeningen zijn geplaatst onder hanenkammen van gekleurde verblendsteen met gestucte aanzet- en sluitstenen. De panden hebben een hardstenen plint en hardstenen onderdorpels die opgenomen zijn in een cordonlijst. In de geveltoppen siermetselwerk en gestucte speklagen.
De entree heeft een brede paneeldeur met twee ramen met siersmeedwerk. Bovenlicht met glas-in-lood. Naast de entree twee schuiframen, op de verdieping drie schuiframen. In de geveltop een tweeruitsvenster.
Het hoekpand (nummer 1) ligt aan de noordzijde van het ensemble en heeft een overhoekse vijfzijdige erker met op de verdieping een loggia.
Pand nummer 3 heeft een houten geveltop met een duiventil.
De woningen nummer 21 t/m 31 hebben lijstgevels en een aantal tuitgevels en onderscheiden zich van het naastgelegen blok door het gebruik van beton en door de iets lagere bouwhoogte. De panden hebben een hardstenen plint, hanenkammen van rode baksteen en gepleisterde aanzet- en sluitstenen en lijsten. Betonnen daklijsten met sierstukken. De nummers 21, 25 en 29 hebben op de verdieping een betonnen balkon met ijzeren hekwerk. Aan het balkon openslaande deuren en aan weerszijden een schuifraam. In de top een meerruitsvenster met drie schuiframen waarvan de middelste hoger is.
De interieurs zijn redelijk gaaf. Originele elementen zoals marmeren gangvloeren met marmeren plinten en drempels, kamers-en-suite met schuifdeuren met glas-in-lood, stucplafonds met leeuwenkopjes en profiellijsten zijn vrijwel overal nog in tact.

Uit 1898 en 1912 daterend ensemble herenhuizen in Overgangsstijl, deel uitmakend van het complex De Rozenhof, van algemeen belang wegens architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde als kenmerkend voorbeeld van vroege projectontwikkeling als ook van belang wegens ensemblewaarde met de Villa Rozenhof, het bijbehorende rozarium en de achterliggende Singelbebouwing.

Semi-circular ensemble of MANSIONS forming part of the De Rozenhof complex, with numbers 1 to 19 from 1898 and dwellings 21 to 31 from 1912 designed by H.A. Korthals and L.P. Joosten. The block is located west of Villa Rozenhof.
Description
The mansions numbered 1 to 19 are constructed over two storeys with a spacious attic storey beneath a truncated gabled roof. Due to the placement of the houses in a curved gable wall, the main form of the ground plans varies from rectangular to trapezoidal. The houses have three window bays wide front facades with individual detailing of glazed brick, red, yellow or green facing brick, plasterwork or natural stone, varied gable tops (stepped or spout gables) and alternately placed balconies. The front doors are each mirrored and located entirely to the right or left. All window openings are placed beneath cock's combs of coloured facing brick with plastered setting and closing stones. The buildings have a granite plinth and granite window sills incorporated in a cordon line. In the gable tops ornamental brickwork and plastered layers.

Numbers 21, 25 and 29 have on the upper floor a concrete balcony with iron railings. Doors opening onto the balcony and a sash window on either side.
