Inleiding
Voormalige LEERLOOIERIJ, thans opslagruimte uit de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw met aan de rechter zijgevel een iets latere aanbouw. De looierij is opgetrokken in een streek-eigen-bouwtrant. Het bijbehorende vrijstaande woonhuis uit 1929 valt buiten de bescherming, evenals de aanbouw onder lessenaardak aan de achterzijde.
Omschrijving
Langgerekte, evenwijdig aan de straat gebouwde tweelaags looierij, opgetrokken uit baksteen en hout met zadel- en lessenaardak, gedekt met respectievelijk oud-Hollandse en muldenpannen. Het voegwerk is recent vernieuwd. Het gebouw telt vijf vakken. De begane grond van de voorgevel bestaat uit handvorm baksteen met een afsluitende rand van ruitvormige siermotieven in gesmoorde steen. De getoogde ramen zijn rond 1950 vernieuwd in beton. De verdieping en zolderetage zijn in houtskelet met houten beschieting en ventilatieluiken uitgevoerd, met uitzondering van twee vakken der eerste etage die ijzeren en getoogde roedenramen hebben. De linker zijgevel heeft beneden twee getoogde deuropeningen.
Op de verdieping een luikopening geflankeerd door gedichte segmenttoogramen. In de topgevel een luikopening, geflankeerd door twee driehoekige venstertjes. De rechter zijgevel bestaat uit metselwerk en gaat schuil achter een aanbouw onder lessenaardak. Deze heeft getoogde betonnen ramen. In de topgevel boven het lessenaardak twee halfronde ramen met rand van gesmoorde baksteen.
De achtergevel wordt deels aan het oog onttrokken door een latere aanbouw onder lessenaardak, maar komt in opzet overeen met de voorgevel. Het dak heeft een overstek met geschupte sierranden en pinakels. Inwendig heeft de begane grond een bakstenen vloer en houten balklaag. De etages bestaan uit een vijf vakken tellend houtskelet met op de eerste etage korbelen en op de zolderetage een Philibertspant. Een deel van de verdiepingsbalklaag is verwijderd. De dakvlakken zijn met riet beschoten en deels wit afgestreken.
Waardering
De voormalige leerlooierij is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorische waarden als bijzondere uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische, technische en typologische ontwikkeling van de leerlooierij in het algemeen; het heeft architectuurhistorische waarden voor de geschiedenis van de bouwtechniek; het heeft ensemblewaarden vanwege de hoogwaardige kwaliteit van de bebouwing en de historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met wegen, wateren en bodemgesteldheid; het is van belang wegens de architectonische gaafheid van het ex- en interieur.

Description
Long, two-storey tannery built parallel to the street, constructed from brick and timber with gabled and sloped roofs, covered respectively with Dutch tiles and half-round tiles. The pointing has been recently renewed. The building comprises five bays. The ground floor of the front gable consists of handmade brick with a closure band of diamond-shaped decorative motifs in charred brick. The arched windows were renewed around 1950 in concrete. The storey and attic storey are executed in timber frame with wooden cladding and ventilation hatches, with the exception of two bays of the first storey which have iron and arched glazing-bar windows. The left side gable has below two arched door openings.
On the storey a hatch opening flanked by sealed segment arch windows. In the gable a hatch opening, flanked by two triangular small windows. The right side gable consists of brickwork and is concealed behind an extension under a sloped roof. This has arched concrete windows. In the gable above the sloped roof two semi-circular windows with a border of charred brick.
The rear gable is partly hidden from view by a later extension under a sloped roof, but corresponds in design with the front gable. The roof has an overhang with shingled decorative edges and finials. Interiorly the ground floor has a brick floor and wooden beam layer. The storeys consist of a five-bay timber frame with corbels on the first storey and a Philibert truss on the attic storey. Part of the storey beam layer has been removed. The roof planes are covered with reed and partly whitewashed.
Valuation
The former tannery is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of the socio-economic, technical and typological development of the tannery in general; it has architectural-historical value for the history of building techniques; it has ensemble value due to the high-quality nature of the building and the historical-spatial relationship with roads, waterways and soil composition; it is of importance due to the architectural integrity of the exterior and interior.
