Inleiding
WOONHUIS in traditionele stijl. Gebouwd door architect H. de Hoop in 1939 als eigen woonhuis. H. de Hoop was tevens directeur van de Waalwijkse gemeentewerken. Een garage in stijl werd later toegevoegd.
Omschrijving
Tweelaags bakstenen woonhuis op een rechthoekige plattegrond onder een geknikt zadeldak waarvan de nok haaks op de straat staat. Het dak is gedekt met verbeterde Hollandse pannen. De voorgevel is asymmetrisch, rechts in een ondiep portiek bevindt zich de ingang. In de getoogde omlijsting zijn natuursteen blokken aangebracht. Links daarvan bevindt zich een T-raam waarvan de onderlichten roedenverdeling en luiken hebben, het bovenlicht is gevuld met glas-in-lood. Rechts van het portiek een klein vierkant glas-in-loodraam met luiken.
Op de verdieping is een loggia met dubbele rondboog aangebracht, rechts daarvan bevindt zich een raam met roedenverdeling en luiken. Een klein vierruits raam zit in de topgevel. De linkerhoek van de voorgevel gaat over in een schoorsteen.
In de linkerzijgevel bevinden zich ramen in een vormgeving en indeling als die van de voorgevel. Achteraan is een aanbouw gezet die om de hoek tegen de achtergevel doorloopt. Dit galerij-achtige element is één laag hoog en heeft een lessenaarsdak. Hierin zijn smalle hoge ramen voorzien van een kleine roedenverdeling aangebracht. In de achtergevel zijn terrasdeuren geplaatst. Op de verdieping bevinden zich ramen met luiken, in de top een vierruits raam.
De rechterzijgevel is één laag hoog en nagenoeg blind. In het dakvlak bevindt zich een dakkapel.
Waardering
Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang. Het woonhuis is van cultuurhistorisch belang als uitdrukking van een cultuurhistorische en sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, waarbij door de gegoede burgerij teruggegrepen werd op een traditionele vormgeving. Het heeft architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de gebruikte traditionele vormgeving. Description
Two-storey brick dwelling house on a rectangular floor plan under a broken gabled roof with the ridge perpendicular to the street. The roof is covered with improved Dutch tiles. The front facade is asymmetrical, to the right in a shallow porch is the entrance. In the arched frame natural stone blocks are installed. To the left of this is a T-shaped window of which the lower lights have glazing bars and shutters, the fanlight is filled with stained glass. To the right of the porch a small square stained glass window with shutters.
