Inleiding
Vrijstaand WOONHUIS uit 1844, gebouwd in classicistische stijl. Het gebouw ligt aan de Grotestraat in de kern van Waalwijk en maakt deel uit van de lintbebouwing. In 1912 vonden verbouwingen en uitbreiding van het pand aan de achterzijde plaats.
Omschrijving
Tweelaags blokvormig pand onder schilddak waarvan de nok haaks op de straat staat. De voorgevel is vijf traveeën breed, uitgevoerd in baksteen op een hoge natuurstenen plint (tot aan de onderdorpels van de ramen). De deur in het midden heeft een houten omlijsting waarbij de latei wordt ondersteund door voluten, versierd met druiventrossen. Aan weerszijden twee achtruits ramen. Op de verdieping zesruits ramen. De gevel heeft een kroonlijst met eierlijst, bekroond door een gootlijst op klossen.
In het midden van het dakvlak bevindt zich een dakkapel. De linkerzijgevel is nagenoeg blind. De plint loopt over een klein stuk door. In het achterste deel zijn enkele ramen aangebracht. De gevel grenst aan een smal gangetje, afgesloten door een hek. Rechts zijn eveneens in het achterste gedeelte ramen aangebracht. Er is een éénlaagse aanbouw met afgeschuinde zijden.
In een haakse aanbouw, éénlaags onder zadeldak, bevindt zich een bedrijfsruimte.
Aan de straat, rechts van het huis staan natuurstenen palen met een openslaand smeedijzeren hek.
Waardering

Detached RESIDENTIAL HOUSE from 1844, built in classical style. The building is situated on the Grotestraat in the centre of Waalwijk and forms part of the linear development. In 1912 alterations and expansion of the building on the rear side took place.
Description
Two-storey blocky building under a hipped roof with the ridge at right angles to the street. The front facade is five bays wide, executed in brick on a high natural stone plinth (extending to the sills of the windows). The door in the centre has a wooden frame in which the lintel is supported by volutes, decorated with bunches of grapes. On either side two eight-pane windows. On the upper storey six-pane windows. The facade has a cornice with egg-and-dart moulding, crowned by a gutter moulding on corbels.
In the centre of the roof plane is a roof dormer. The left side facade is almost blank. The plinth runs through for a short distance. In the rear part some windows have been installed. The facade borders on a narrow alley, closed by a gate. On the right windows have likewise been installed in the rear section. There is a single-storey addition with chamfered sides.
In a perpendicular addition, single-storey under a gabled roof, is a business space.
On the street, to the right of the house stand natural stone posts with an open wrought-iron gate.
Valuation
The house is of general importance. The house has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of the socio-economic and typological development of the gentleman's residential house in the middle of the nineteenth century. It has been well preserved.
