Inleiding
VILLA "'t Hofke", gebouwd in opdracht van leerfabrikant N. Gragtmans in 1921. Het ontwerp is van architect G.H. van Hulten in traditionalistische stijl. Het vrijstaande pand ligt op de hoek van de Van Coothstraat met de Julianastraat.
Omschrijving
Tweelaags bakstenen woonhuis op een rechthoekige plattegrond onder een rieten wolfdak waarvan de nok, bekleed met nokvorsten, haaks op de straat staat. Het blokvormige pand heeft een brede voorgevel met in het midden onder een luifel een deur, voorzien van boven- en zijlichten. Aan weerszijden van de deur zijn openslaande ramen met een kleine roedenverdeling aangebracht, voorzien van luiken. Op de verdieping bevindt zich boven de deur een kleiner gekoppeld raam met kleine roedenverdeling. Ernaast ramen als op de begane grond, hier zonder luiken. In het dakvlak zijn halfronde dakramen onder opgewipt dak geplaatst.
De beide zijgevels tellen één laag. In de linkerzijgevel zit een raam als in de voorgevel, de rechterzijgevel heeft behalve deze ramen ook terrasdeuren. In de achtergevel zijn de ramen voorzien van rolluiken. In het midden bevindt zich een deur. Ter plekke van het trappenhuis zijn glas-in-loodramen aangebracht, deze zijn voorzien van gebrandschilderde medaillons.
In het interieur is de indeling in oorspronkelijke vorm bewaard gebleven. Achter de entree ligt een brede gang met aan de rechterkant een langgerekte kamer, links aan de voorzijde een kamer, aan de achterkant de keuken. Deze vertrekken zijn van elkaar gescheiden door een kleine gang en toiletruimtes. Rechts achterin de gang bevindt zich een trap.
De entree wordt afgesloten door deuren met gebrandschilderd glas-in-lood. Andere belangrijke elementen uit de inrichting zijn onder meer een houten schouw met Delfts blauwe tegels in de achterkamer en enkele stucplafonds in de kamers op de begane grond.
Waardering
De villa is van algemeen belang. De villa is van cultuurhistorisch belang als uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische en typologische ontwikkeling van de fabrikantenvilla. De villa heeft architectuurhistorische waarde wegens de traditionalistische vormgeving en stijl. De villa is gaaf bewaard gebleven.

Description
Two-storey brick dwelling on a rectangular ground plan under a thatched half-hipped roof with the ridge, clad with roof tile ends, running at right angles to the street. The block-shaped property has a broad front facade with a door in the centre under a canopy, provided with fanlights and sidelights. On either side of the door are casement windows with small glazing bars, provided with shutters. On the upper storey above the door is a smaller coupled window with small glazing bars. Adjacent to this are windows as on the ground floor, here without shutters. In the roof plane are half-round roof windows placed under hinged roof.
Both side gables comprise one storey. The left side gable has a window as in the front facade, the right side gable has, in addition to these windows, also terrace doors. In the rear facade the windows are provided with roller shutters. In the centre is a door. In the location of the stairwell stained-glass windows are fitted, these are provided with painted medallions.
In the interior the layout has been preserved in original form. Behind the entrance is a broad hallway with on the right side a long room, on the left at the front a room, at the back the kitchen. These rooms are separated from each other by a small hallway and toilet spaces. On the right at the back of the hallway is a staircase.
The entrance is closed off by doors with painted stained glass. Other important elements from the fixtures include among others a wooden chimney breast with Delft blue tiles in the back room and some stucco ceilings in the rooms on the ground floor.
