Inleiding
Het FABRIEKSGEBOUW is sedert 1906 in verschillende fasen gebouwd. In 1906 startte de bouw van een woonhuis met schoenenfabriek voor de heer C.de Vries van de Grind te Baardwijk. In kern is dit nog steeds aanwezig in het omstreeks 1930 in hoog tempo verbouwde en uitgebreide complex. Initiatiefnemer hiervoor was de firma Van Haren. Toendertijd kwamen het front van het complex en de directe belendingen, de beschermde kern van het complex, tot stand.
Omschrijving
Tweelaags bakstenen blok op een rechthoekige plattegrond. De hoofdmassa aan de straat heeft een plat dak. Daarachter ligt een grote productiehal met sheddaken, waarvan expliciet wordt opgemerkt dat alleen de voorste vier traveeën onder de werking van de Monumentenwet vallen.
De voorgevel is symmetrisch opgezet. Het middendeel bestaat uit een hogere ingangstravee met daarin een trapsgewijs terugspringend portiek met een dubbele houten deur. De portiek wordt afgesloten door een betonnen band waarboven (in moderne letters) het opschrift "VAN HAREN" is aangebracht. Op de verdieping is een breed raam met metalen kozijnen gezet, gevuld met glas-in-lood. De ingangspartij wordt geflankeerd door twee ronde raampjes met metalen kozijnen. Naast het glas-in-loodraam zijn sculpturen aangebracht. Links een vrouwenfiguur met schoen, rechts een man met schoenmakersattributen. Deze beelden zijn afkomstig uit de Van Haren-vestiging uit 's-Hertogenbosch. Aan weerszijden van deze ingangstravee zijn op de begane grond een erker en op de verdieping twee samengestelde ramen geplaatst.
Het daaraangrenzende gedeelte van de voorgevel springt aan beide zijden van het middendeel, na een afgeschuinde hoek, iets naar voren. Beide gevelwanden tellen vier vensterassen. Hierin zijn op de begane grond en op de verdieping dezelfde ramen geplaatst als in de rest van de voorgevel.
In de rechterzijgevel bevinden zich brede samengestelde ramen als in de voorgevel, aan het uiteinde, op de verdieping een staat een hijsluik onder een luifel. De erachter gelegen productiehal is breder en steekt rechts een stuk uit.
In het interieur is in het hoofdgebouw de hal in hoofdzaak in oorspronkelijke staat bewaard gebleven. Hier zijn wandschilderingen van de hand van Theo van Delft aangebracht. Zij geven een beeld van de leerindustrie in het algemeen en de werkzaamheden van het concern van Van Haren in het bijzonder. Zo zijn er onder meer afbeeldingen van het bewerken van leer, de fabricage van schoenen en een interieur van een schoenenwinkel waarin mensen schoenen passen. Op de wand rondom de ingang zijn de plaatsnamen waar zich vestigingen van Van Haren bevinden gezet.
De productiehal heeft een constructie van metalen I-profielen op smalle ronde kolommen in het oudste gedeelte.
Waardering
Het fabrieksgebouw, zoals boven omschreven, is van algemeen belang. Het fabrieksgebouw is van cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de economische- en typologische ontwikkeling van de schoenenindustrie en de bijbehorende gebouwentypen.

Introduction
The FACTORY BUILDING has been built in various phases since 1906. In 1906 construction began on a residential house with shoe factory for Mr C. de Vries van de Grind at Baardwijk. Description
Two-storey brick block on a rectangular floor plan. The main mass on the street has a flat roof. Behind it lies a large production hall with shed roofs, it being explicitly noted that only the front four bays fall under the operation of the Monument Act.
The front facade is set out symmetrically. The central section consists of a higher entrance bay with a stepped-back porttico containing a double wooden door. The porttico is closed off by a concrete band above which (in modern letters) the inscription "VAN HAREN" is displayed. On the first floor a wide window with metal frames is set, filled with stained glass. The entrance section is flanked by two round windows with metal frames. Next to the stained glass window sculptures are placed. On the left a female figure with shoe, on the right a man with shoemaking attributes. These sculptures come from the Van Haren premises in 's-Hertogenbosch. On either side of this entrance bay are placed on the ground floor an oriel window and on the first floor two composite windows.
The adjoining part of the front facade steps back slightly on both sides of the central section, after a chamfered corner. Both facade walls have four window axes. In these are placed on the ground floor and on the first floor the same windows as in the rest of the front facade.
In the right side facade are broad composite windows as in the front facade; at the far end, on the first floor a hoist door stands under a canopy. The production hall behind it is wider and projects a section to the right.
In the interior, in the main building the hall has been largely preserved in its original state. Wall paintings by Theo van Delft have been applied here. They give a picture of the leather industry in general and the activities of the Van Haren concern in particular. So among other things there are depictions of leather working, the manufacture of shoes and an interior of a shoe shop where people are trying on shoes. On the wall around the entrance the place names where Van Haren premises are located are displayed.
The production hall has a construction of metal I-profiles on narrow round columns in the oldest section.
Valuation
