Inleiding
Het eclectische HERENHUIS werd gebouwd in 1847 in opdracht van G. Quirijns. Enkele gevelornamenten zijn beschadigd. Het huis staat vrijwel op de hoek van een kruising van wegen, naast een lager pand.
Omschrijving
Het tweelaagse pand heeft een vrijwel rechthoekige plattegrond en telt vijf traveeën. Op het schilddak, met de nokas parallel aan de straat, liggen zwarte kruispannen. De gevels zijn opgetrokken uit handvorm baksteen. Horizontaal wordt de voorgevel geleed door een plint, cordonlijsten en een bewerkt fries. Verticaal wordt de gevel geleed door hoeklisenen. De schuifvensters op de begane grond en de T-vensters op de etage zijn voorzien van een gepleisterde omlijsting met diverse profielranden, oreillons, kuiven en een krans. De bovenlichten bezitten een rijk uitgewerkte omlijsting met een neo-Lodewijk XIV-welving. Deze omlijsting is ook aanwezig bij de centraal geplaatste vleugeldeur met hardstenen stoep. Deze deur is voorzien van panelen en gebogen frontons. Het rijk gepleisterde fries heeft rechthoekige velden en bewerkte voluutconsoles met parelrand, acanthusblad en krans. De gootlijst rust op klosjes met tandlijst, de geprofileerde lijst zelf bezit een geschulpte sierrand. Het middendeel is uitgevoerd in de vorm van een gebroken segmentboogfronton met dezelfde decoratie. In het midden bevindt zich een getoogd T-venster als dakkapel met geschulpt sierrandje aan de bovenzijde. Op beide nokpunten van het dak is een schoorsteen met keperboogreliëf gemetseld.
De plinten van de zijgevels zijn gepleisterd; de ramen worden er omlijst door lagen van afwisselend grijze en rode baksteen. Het gepleisterde fries is voorzien van rechthoekige velden.
De rechterzijgevel heeft op de hoek, zowel op de begane grond als op de etage, een getoogd venster met sluitsteen. Eenzelfde raam is aangebracht op de hoek geheel links. Hierachter bevindt zich een klein éénlaags schuurtje onder zadeldak met klampdeur en halfronde ijzeren raampjes.
De linkerzijgevel heeft op de hoek van de begane grond een getoogd schuifraam met sluitsteen. Linksachter bevindt zich een anderhalflaagse uitbouw onder schilddak. In de smalle kopse gevel is er boven de paneeldeur met getoogd bovenlicht een laag getoogd gedeeld raam. In de zijgevel bevindt zich nog zo'n raam, met daaronder een brede recente vensteropening. De achtergevel is op de etage voorzien van een brede rechthoekige veranda. Zowel de balustrade als het lessenaardak zijn uitgevoerd in hout en hebben een eenvoudige detaillering.

The two-storey building has a virtually rectangular ground plan and comprises five bays. On the hipped roof, with the ridge parallel to the street, black cross tiles are laid. The facades are built in handmade brick. Horizontally the front facade is articulated by a plinth, course mouldings and a worked frieze. Vertically the facade is articulated by corner pilasters. The sash windows on the ground floor and the T-windows on the upper storey are provided with a rendered frame with various profile mouldings, oreillons, hood mouldings and a wreath. The fanlights have a richly worked frame with a neo-Louis XIV arch. This frame is also present at the centrally placed wing door with hardstone doorstep. This door is fitted with panels and curved pediments. The richly rendered frieze has rectangular fields and worked scroll brackets with beaded edge, acanthus leaf and wreath. The gutter moulding rests on small blocks with dentil moulding; the profiled moulding itself has a scalloped decorative edge. The central section is executed in the form of a broken segmental arch pediment with the same decoration. In the middle is an arched T-window as a roof dormer with scalloped decorative edging at the top. On both ridge points of the roof is a chimney with herringbone arch relief.
The plinths of the side facades are rendered; the windows are framed by courses of alternating grey and red brick. The rendered frieze is provided with rectangular fields.
The right side facade has on the corner, both on the ground floor and on the upper storey, an arched window with keystone. A similar window is placed on the corner at the far left. Behind this is a small single-storey shed under a gabled roof with clamped door and semicircular iron windows.
The left side facade has on the corner of the ground floor an arched sash window with keystone. To the left rear is an anderthalb-storey extension under a hipped roof. In the narrow gable end is above the panelled door with arched fanlight a low arched divided window. In the side facade there is another such window, with below it a wide recent window opening. The rear facade on the upper storey is fitted with a wide rectangular veranda. Both the balustrade and the roof are executed in wood and have simple detailing.
