Inleiding

Description
Introduction
The DWELLING was built in 1851 in neoclassical style, commissioned by R. Middelkoop. The building is currently used as a shop and storage space.
Description
The two-storey building has an almost rectangular ground plan and comprises five bays. On the hipped roof with the roof ridge parallel to the street lie black Old Dutch roof tiles. The rear facade has been extended under a long sloping roof. The facades are constructed of handmade brickwork. Slightly set back, there are single-storey rendered outbuildings on the left and right. These have a flat roof with front and side hipped sections on which red and black Old Dutch roof tiles respectively are laid.
The front facade of the dwelling has a hardstone plinth, the same material as the sills of the sash windows. The sash frames on the ground floor have beneath the cambered sill a striking extra intermediate glazing bar. The windows have a simply profiled rendered frame, this also applies to the T-windows on the upper storey. The varnished double doors are centrally placed. The richly worked doors are provided with diamond heads, decorative mouldings and round-arched windows with decorative wrought-iron grilles, above which a worked leaf with fanlight. The entrance is framed by a broad cornice with frieze on consoles, resting on Ionic pilasters with among other things decoration in the form of diamond heads.
The frieze under the roof edge is smooth, the profiled cornice rests on blocks. In the roof plane a wooden dormer has been realised in the middle with pediment on blocks, pilasters with diamond heads and sides in volute form. The side facades are rustic-finished rendered. The right side facade has a half sash window.
The right outbuilding has a T-window with stucco frame. The roof edge is, like that of the other outbuilding, provided with a decorative border.
On the left the side facade has a renewed panelled door with fanlight, beside which are enamel advertisement boards for "Duphar bestrijdingsmiddelen" and "J. Vos graanhandel".
The left outbuilding has at the front double doors with rendered frame with ears and diamond head. The panelled doors date from c. 1910. This carriage house has in the side facade long wall anchors and a semicircular forked window. A clamp door has a fanlight with this shape and above it a hoist door and on the left a six-pane stable window from c. 1950.
The original rear facades of main and outbuildings are hidden from view by later outbuildings from among others 1962.
Valuation
The building is of general importance. The building is of cultural-historical importance as an example of the typological and socio-economic development of the dwelling for the well-to-do bourgeoisie. From an architectural-historical perspective it is important because of the applied stylistic elements and the use of materials. Furthermore the building is of importance because of its integrity and because of its relation to the structural and visual integrity of the village setting.
