Inleiding
Kroonlijst in lichtrode profielsteen. Elf vensterassen over twee lagen.

Introduction
CLOISTER WING, circa 1910, in traditional style with elements of Neo-Gothic. Component and as such the third expansion of the monastery of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart at Leijenbroek. This cloister wing was erected in a northerly direction, parallel to the Leijenbroekerweg, forming a right angle on the northeast side with the north facade of the cloister courtyard from 1889.
Description

The whole is covered by a composite GABLED AND HIPPED ROOF with moulded pantiles. Roof gutters, resting on a cornice. On the rear roof surface on the west side there is a tall chimney with mouldings and three attic windows.
The east facade facing the street is constructed in red brick, the west facade in coarse draught kiln brick. Both facades are laid in Flemish bond and have cut joints. The east facade has ornaments in light red profile stone and light red, glazed ceramic sills. Hardstone lintels. Stucco. Artificial stone window traceries. The asymmetrically arranged EAST FACADE has five bays, of which the fourth terminates in a spout gable. The facade is provided with a low profiled plinth with light red profile moulding. The five bays are separated from each other by pilasters, the storeys by a double horizontal tooled profile moulding with cross motifs. Cornice in light red profile stone. In four bays there is in each storey a pointed arch-shaped wooden window. These windows are vertically divided, have ornamented mullions, a double horizontal division of the glass panel and leaded glass fanlights with wooden traceries. All these windows are recessed in pointed arch mouldings in light red profile stone. In the fourth bay is the entrance section. The pilasters terminate in the corner pieces and arch frieze of the spout gable. This spout gable has stuccoed corner pieces, a roof cross, pointed arch friezes in light red profile stone and a blind oeil-de-boeuf window. In the first storey, in a pointed arch-shaped light red brick profile moulding, a rectangular wooden door of more recent date under a hardstone lintel with consoles. Above it a pointed arch-shaped leaded glass fanlight with neo-gothic artificial stone traceries. In the second storey again a wooden pointed arch window is placed, identical to the windows in the other window bays. The WEST FACADE is asymmetrically arranged. Eleven window bays over two storeys. A profiled plinth with plastered moulding, in each bay provided with a basement window with ironwork. Between the storeys there is again a horizontal double profile moulding, between which profiled tooled cross motifs. Cornice with dentil decoration. In the fourth bay from the north side is the entrance section, of which the pilasters terminate in a spout gable with corner pieces and bevelled courses.
In front of this entrance section there are five terrazzo stair treads, provided on both sides with a brick balustrade. These give access to a rectangular double wooden entrance door with pointed arch-shaped leaded glass fanlight, in which a representation of the Sacred Heart. Pointed arch-shaped arch. In the second storey of the entrance section a rectangular wooden cross window with horizontally grooved glass panel in a segmental arch moulding. In the gable a rectangular wooden window in a segmental arch moulding. Fair-faced brickwork in the infill pieces.
In the remaining window bays there is in each storey a rectangular wooden cross window with horizontally grooved glass panel. Fair-faced brickwork in the infill pieces. Exclusively in the first bay from the north side are high-set, rectangular wooden windows placed.
The INTERIOR of the cloister wing has been partly modified in its arrangement by the placement of some partition walls in the cloister corridors facing the street. The arrangement is simple in design: a cloister corridor, onto which the rooms - provided with rectangular wooden panelled doors in frames - open.
Valuation
The cloister wing represents general interest and is of cultural-historical value as an expression of spiritual development. The architectural-historical values are determined by the building style, aesthetic quality, use of materials and ornamental details. The wing is an essential component of the Sacred Heart monastery, which due to its location is connected to the development of the old hamlet of Leijenbroek and the countryside of Sittard. The building is of significance for the appearance of the municipality of Sittard. The cloister school has, as regards the exterior, a high degree and as regards the interior a reasonable degree of architectural integrity and is furthermore of importance in relation to the visual integrity of the built environment. Moreover, the cloister wing possesses, in a regional perspective, architectural-historical and in particular a high cultural-historical rarity value.
