Omschrijving onderdeel 3: VAZEN BIJ OPRIT
Twee monumentale hardstenen vazen uit de eerste helft van de 18de eeuw op hardstenen rechthoekige sokkels met vakken. De vazen vertonen mythologische voorstellingen op de hals en zijn afgedekt door een deksel. Volgens de overlevering zouden de vazen in de 19de eeuw van de buitenplaats Bijdorp onder Voorschoten op Hondsdonk terecht zijn gekomen. Deze buitenplaats was eigendom geweest van de familie van der Hoeven, die verwant was aan de van der Heims. Een kadervoorstelling van een 18de eeuwse vogelvlucht van Bijdorp (Collectie Bodel Nijenhuis, Universiteitsbibliotheek Leiden) vertoont een vaas die grote overeenkomst laat zien met de vazen op Hondsdonk.

Description of component 3: URNS AT THE ENTRANCE DRIVE
Two monumental sandstone urns from the first half of the 18th century on sandstone rectangular plinths with compartments. The urns display mythological representations on the neck and are topped by a cover. According to tradition, the urns came to Hondsdonk in the 19th century from the country house Bijdorp near Voorschoten. This country house had been the property of the van der Hoeven family, who were related to the van der Heims. A framed representation of an 18th-century bird's-eye view of Bijdorp (Bodel Nijenhuis Collection, University Library Leiden) shows an urn that displays great similarities with the urns at Hondsdonk.
