Aan de zuidzijde van de R.K. H.Lambertuskerk te Beers staat op het kerkhof het GRAFKRUIS van P.H. Barten, daterend uit omstreeks 1902.
Omschrijving
Het hardstenen kruis staat op een dito sokkel. Op de kruising van de dubbel gelobde kruisarmen een marmeren medaillon met de inscriptie: "Bid zoor de ziel / van zaliger Petrus Henricus / Barten zoon van de echtelieden / Jean Barten en Johanna van de / Voordt geb. te Cuyk 8 april / 1820 overl. te Beers / 29 sept. 1902". Juist boven de sokkel staat op de kruisarm de inscriptie: "R.I.P.".
Waardering
Het grafkruis is van algemeen belang. Het geheel heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van het katholicisme en de daarmee samenhangende devoties in het zuiden en is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het grafmonument. The sandstone cross stands on a likewise stone plinth. At the intersection of the doubly lobed cross arms, a marble medallion with the inscription: "Pray for the soul / of the late Petrus Henricus / Barten son of the spouses / Jean Barten and Johanna van de / Voordt born in Cuyk 8 April / 1820 died in Beers / 29 September 1902". Just above the plinth, on the cross arm, stands the inscription: "R.I.P.".
