Inleiding
Het blok WOONHUIZEN, oorspronkelijk met een werkplaats werd gebouwd rond 1900. Stilistisch heeft het object zowel kenmerken van de Neo-renaisssance als van de Neo-gotiek.
Omschrijving
Het tweelaagse blok heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond. De gevels zijn opgetrokken uit machinale bruine baksteen met gele bakstenen accenten en gepleisterde speklagen bij onder- en bovendorpels. Op het afgeplatte mansardedak liggen leien in Maasdekking. Het werkplaatsgedeelte links onderscheidt zich door een hoog afgeplat tentdak. Het deel met woningen, nummer 115-121, heeft een symmetrische opzet, waarbij de hoekpanden iets vooruitspringen. Op nummer 123 staat de overbouwde poort met bovenwoning. De verschillende woonhuizen worden van elkaar gescheiden door lisenen. Boven de middelste van de drie vensterassen die de woningen tellen, bevindt zich een topgevel. Bij de hoekpanden is dat een trapgevel, bij de beide panden in het midden een tuitgevel. Een brandmuur met ingewerkte decoratie brengt een extra onderscheiding aan tussen de middenpanden. De begane grond heeft een gespiegelde indeling van twee ramen en een deur. De getoogde schuifvensters hebben hardstenen dorpels. Boven de dubbele vleugeldeuren met smeedijzeren sierroosters bevinden zich getoogde bovenlichten. Dat van nummer 121 is van floraal glas-in-lood voorzien. De baksteen is naast de deur- en raamopeningen verrijkt met profielen. Boven elk middenvenster is een rechthoekig balkon geplaatst op decoratieve hardstenen consoles et voetplaat van ditzelfde materiaal. De borstwering is van smeedijzer met symmetrische krullen en spiralen. Op de etage bevinden zich T-vensters; bij het balkon openslaande deuren met getoogd bovenlicht. Langs de zijden van deze deuren zijn lisenen gemetseld, die doorgaan in de topgevels met getoogd raam erboven. Naast deze topgevels bevinden zich geprofileerde gootlijsten op klosjes, waaronder siermetselwerk. Het gele siermetselwerk in reliëf is verschillend van vormgeving onder en rond bij de topgevelvensters, in de friezen en bij de lisenen. Boven het topgevelraam van pand nummer 119 is een letter "A", boven dat van nummer 117 is een "M" in gele baksteen gemetseld. Onder de trapgevels van de hoekpanden zijn siersmeedankers geplaatst. Aan weerszijden van deze topgevels bevinden zich kleine dakkapellen. Alle topgevels zelf zijn van hoog en breed uitgewerkte smeedijzeren sierbekroningen voorzien.
Het hoekpand nummer 123 heeft op de begane grond een grote getoogde poort, waarvan de deuren zijn verdwenen. De opening is achterin afgesloten door een recent hekwerk. Daarboven bevindt zich de geschilderde tekst: "Kunstsmeedwerkplaatsen". De beide getoogde T-vensters op de etage worden gekoppeld door een hardstenen dorpel en een spaarboog. Rond de bogen en tussen de vensters geel baksteenwerk; in de spaarboog twee gekruiste hamers van gele baksteen. In het fries onder de gootlijst op klosjes de tekst: "spoorwegmaterieel". In het dakvlak een dakkapel. Het dak is boven de gootlijst en aan de bovenkant gedecoreerd met een smeedijzeren hekwerk.
De linkergevel bestaat uit een deel dat aansluit op de voorgevel met siermetselwerk bij het fries. Daarachter een deel met een klein T-raam op de etage en een tandlijst onder de gootlijst, waarvan de klosjes eenvoudiger zijn uitgevoerd dan die van de voorgevel. De rechterzijgevel is blind. Bij de bouw van het terugliggende pand op nummer 113 is er een nieuwe muur tegen de bestaande gemetseld.
Waardering
Het blok huizen is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de groei van de ambachtelijke nijverheid en is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van het woonhuis met werkplaats als bouwproject. Het is architectuurhistorisch van belang vanwege de ornamentiek en de status als beleggingsproject. Het geheel is belangrijk vanwege de gaafheid van het exterieur en in relatie tot de structurele en visuele gaafheid van de stedelijke omgeving.

The two-storey block has a rectangular floor plan. The facades are constructed of machine-made brown brick with yellow brick accents and plastered spandrels at the under and over-eaves. On the flattened mansard roof lie slate tiles in Maas covering. The workshop section on the left is distinguished by a high flattened tent roof. The section with dwellings, numbers 115-121, has a symmetrical layout, with the corner buildings projecting slightly forward. At number 123 stands the roofed gateway with dwelling above. The various dwelling houses are separated from each other by pilasters. Above the middle of the three window axes which the dwellings have, there is a top gable. At the corner buildings this is a stepped gable, at both middle buildings a spout gable. A party wall with incorporated decoration provides an extra distinction between the middle buildings. The ground floor has a mirrored layout of two windows and a door. The arched sash windows have sandstone sills. Above the double hinged doors with wrought-iron decorative grilles are arched fanlights. That of number 121 is provided with floral stained glass. The brick is enriched beside the door and window openings with profiles. Above each middle window a rectangular balcony is placed on decorative sandstone consoles and plinth of the same material. The balustrade is of wrought iron with symmetrical curves and spirals. On the storey are T-windows; at the balcony opening doors with arched fanlight. Along the sides of these doors pilasters are laid in mortar, which continue in the top gables with arched window above. Beside these top gables are profiled gutter lines on blocks, under which decorative brickwork. The yellow decorative brickwork in relief varies in design beneath and around the top gable windows, in the friezes and at the pilasters. Above the top gable window of building number 119 is a letter "A", above that of number 117 is an "M" laid in yellow brick. Under the stepped gables of the corner buildings ornamental wrought-iron wall anchors are placed. On either side of these top gables are small roof dormers. All top gables themselves are provided with high and broadly worked wrought-iron decorative crests.
The corner building number 123 has on the ground floor a large arched gateway, the doors of which have disappeared. The opening is closed off at the rear by recent ironwork.
