Inleiding
HERENHUIS, gebouwd aan het begin van deze eeuw, omstreeks 1905 in opdracht van een Tilburgse fabrikant. In de bouwstijl zijn invloeden van Neo-Renaissance verwerkt. De zelfstandige bouwmassa van Goirkestraat 84-84a is verbonden met Goirkestraat 82-82a.
Omschrijving
Tweelaags bakstenen gebouw op een L-vormige plattegrond onder een samengesteld zadeldak gedekt met leien. Het rechtergedeelte heeft een dak evenwijdig aan de straat, links staat het zadeldak haaks op de straat en aangrenzende bouwmassa.
De voorgevel is voorzien van een hoge natuurstenen plint. Het linkerdeel heeft een nauwelijks uitstekend risaliet met op de begane grond twee getoogde ramen waarvan de bovenlichten met glas-in-lood zijn gevuld. De segmentbogen zijn voorzien van natuurstenen aanzet- en sluitstenen en erboven gele wenkbrauwbogen. Eronder is een doorlopende natuurstenen waterlijst aangebracht. Op de verdieping zijn dezelfde ramen aangebracht. Tussen de ramen van begane grond en verdieping bevinden zich tegels met een voorstelling van de franse lelie. In de oksel van de twee haaks op elkaar staande bouwmassa's is een portiek. Hierin een dubbele houten paneeldeur met breed getoogd bovenlicht met glas-in-lood. Erboven een balkon op een vierkante hoekpijler. Het balkon zelf is voorzien van een natuurstenen balustrade en ijzeren hekwerk De lijn van de portiek is doorgetrokken door middel van een muur met ijzeren hekwerk waarachter een stoep, betegeld met dekoratieve cementtegels.
De linkerzijgevel is voorzien van enkele samengestelde ramen, op de begane grond met houten rolluiken. In de topgevel is een rondboograam aangebracht. In de rechterzijgevel twee dakkapellen in het dakvlak. De zijgevels zijn nagenoeg blind uitgevoerd. Achteraan in de rechterzijgevel bevinden zich op de begane grond staande ramen. De linkerzijgevel heeft enkele samengestelde ramen.
Waardering
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de bouw van fabrikantenvilla's binnen de bestaande stedelijke structuur en is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van de fabrikantenvilla. Description
Two-storey brick building on an L-shaped plan under a composite gabled roof (saddle roof) covered with slate. The right section has a roof parallel to the street, on the left the gabled roof is perpendicular to the street and the adjacent building mass.
The front facade is provided with a high natural stone plinth. The left section has a barely projecting pavilion with, on the ground floor, two arched windows whose fanlights are filled with leaded glass. The segmental arches are provided with natural stone springing and keystone voussoirs and above them yellow eyebrow arches. Below is a continuous natural stone drip moulding. On the first floor the same windows are installed. Between the windows of ground floor and first floor are tiles with a representation of the French fleur-de-lis. In the corner of the two building masses perpendicular to each other is a porch. Within it a double wooden panel door with broadly arched fanlight with leaded glass. Above it a balcony on a square corner pillar. The balcony itself is provided with a natural stone balustrade and iron railings. The line of the porch is continued by means of a wall with iron railings behind which a stoep, tiled with decorative cement tiles.
The left side facade is provided with several composite windows, on the ground floor with wooden roller shutters. In the gable apex is a semicircular window. In the right side facade two dormer windows in the roof plane. The side facades are executed almost blind. Towards the rear in the right side facade are standing windows on the ground floor. The left side facade has several composite windows.

It has cultural-historical value as an expression of a socio-economic development, namely the construction of manufacturer's villas within the existing urban structure and is also of significance for the typological development of the manufacturer's villa.
