Inleiding
HERENHUIS uit 1879 in Eclectische stijl gebouwd voor de wollenstoffenfabrikant H. Eras. Het huis met zijn rechthoekige plattegrond ligt, in het midden van de lintbebouwde Goirkestraat, pal tegenover de pastorie van de kerk van 't Goirke. De bijbehorende fabriek werd rond 1980 grotendeels door brand verwoest.
Omschrijving
Het huis heeft twee bouwlagen met een mezzanino gedekt door een zadeldak voorzien van Oudhollandse pannen. Het geheel ligt tussen tuitgevels. De voorgevel is vijf traveeën breed en symmetrisch van opzet. Ze heeft een middenrisaliet met hoekpilasters. De risaliet bevat een monumentale ingangspartij liggend onder een kroonlijst gedragen door voluutvormige consoles. De teakhouten deur met bovenlicht is omgeven door geprofileerde stuclijsten. Naast de deur bevinden zich twee gietijzeren schoenschrapers. Erboven op de tweede bouwlaag een getoogd schuifvenster met T-vormige indeling. Het venster heeft geprofileerde stuclijsten, een kuifbekroning en een hardstenen lekdorpel. Aan weerskanten op de eerste en tweede bouwlaag bevinden zich naast de risaliet twee overeenkomstige schuifvensters. De vensters op de begane grond hebben houten rolluiken. Alle hebben in de bovenlichten glas-in-lood in Art-Deco stijl. In de fries vijf sleufvormige mezzaninovensters met afgeronde hoeken. Op de zijkant van een van de hoekpilasters bevindt zich een hardstenen gevelsteen met jaartal en opschrift: "14-6-1879, H.rie Gabr. Eras". In 1935 krijgt het huis aan de achterkant een erkervormige serre-uitbouw met in de bovenlichten van de vensters glas-in-lood in Art-Deco stijl, ondermeer met figuratieve afbeeldingen van de vier jaargetijden. Boven de serre bevinden zich op de tweede bouwlaag deuren en vensters met een achtruits roedenverdeling. De mezzaninovensters hebben hier een tussenstijl. In de zijgevels, op de mezzanino, totaal drie rondvensters met een geometrische roedenverdeling en een schuifvenster. Het opgaand werk van het huis bestaat uit rode handgevormde baksteen, gemetseld in kruisverband. De voorgevel wordt afgewisseld door hardstenen cordonlijsten naast de vensterdorpels. Aan de bovenkant wordt de gevel afgesloten door een bewerkte fries met kroon- en tandlijst. In de fries bevinden zich twaalf stenen voluutvormige consoles, die de lijst ondersteunen. Het geheel staat op een hardstenen plint.
Het interieur van het huis is grotendeels authentiek. In meerdere kamers bevinden zich bewerkte stucplafonds met ornamentwerk, onder andere met jachttaferelen. Drie schoorsteenmantels: een in gevlamd marmer met een bekleding van gesneden notenhout met florale motieven met op de boezem een ingebouwde spiegel; een in zwart marmer met zijvoluten; de andere is voorzien van tegelwerk met een open haard. In de suite van het huis bevindt zich een authentiek geweven stofbehang in Art-Nouveau stijl. Het geheel is in een gave conditie. De pui naar de serre bestaat uit vier harmonicadeuren voorzien van glas-in-koper met geslepen facetranden, waarvan twee ruiten bestaan uit geëtst glas voorzien van jachttaferelen. In de gang een witgeaderde marmeren vloer. Het trappenhuis bevat eikenhouten bordestrappen met schalmgat, kuipstukken, leuningwrongs en gietijzeren balusters. Deuren met bossingpanelen, lijstwerk en bewerkte architraven. Betegelde keukenvloer met meerkleurige samengestelde patronen. Kelder met wijnberging.
Waardering
Het herenhuis is van algemeen belang. The front facade is five bays wide and symmetrical in composition. It has a central projection with corner pilasters. The projection contains a monumental entrance portico lying under a cornice supported by scroll-shaped consoles. The teak door with fanlight is surrounded by moulded stucco lintels. Beside the door are two cast-iron boot scrapers. Above it on the second storey an arched sash window with T-shaped glazing. The window has moulded stucco lintels, a cap crown and a hardstone drip moulding. On either side on the first and second storeys beside the projection are two corresponding sash windows. The windows on the ground floor have wooden roller shutters. All have leaded glass in Art Deco style in the fanlights. In the frieze five slot-shaped mezzanine windows with rounded corners. On the side of one of the corner pilasters is a hardstone building stone with date and inscription: "14-6-1879, H.rie Gabr. Eras". In 1935 the house receives a bay-window-shaped conservatory extension on the rear with leaded glass in Art Deco style in the fanlights of the windows, amongst others with figurative depictions of the four seasons. Above the conservatory on the second storey are doors and windows with a back-pane glazing bar division. The mezzanine windows here have a central glazing bar. Three fireplace mantels: one in veined marble with a covering of carved walnut wood with floral motifs with a built-in mirror on the breast; one in black marble with side scrolls; the other is fitted with tilework with an open fireplace. In the suite of the house is authentic woven fabric wallpaper in Art Nouveau style. The whole is in good condition. The glass partition towards the conservatory consists of four accordion doors provided with copper-framed leaded glass with cut facet edges, of which two panes consist of etched glass provided with hunting scenes. In the hallway a white-veined marble floor. The stairwell contains oak stair treads with mortise and tenon joints, landings, handrail details and cast-iron balusters. Doors with raised panels, mouldings and worked architraves. Tiled kitchen floor with multi-coloured composite patterns. Cellar with wine storage.
