Inleiding
Drie WOONHUIZEN uit ca. 1860, vermoedelijk gebouwd door molenaar Claassens, die in het meest linkse huis grenzend aan het Wilhelminapark op no. 2 zijn winkel had. De huizen staan in de kern van de wijk Veldhoven, op de kop van de lintbebouwde Gasthuisring. Ze vormen een vrijstaand bouwblok, dat met de gezamenlijke voor- of westgevel aan de straat ligt.
Omschrijving
De eenlaagse woonhuizen met een zolderverdieping hebben een gezamenlijk zadeldak tussen tuitgevels. Twee woningen zijn drie traveeën breed met de voordeur in het midden geflankeerd door een raam. De meest rechtse woning is slechts twee traveeën breed bestaande uit een deur en een raam. De muuropeningen in de voorgevel zijn omzoomd door een geprofileerde stuclijst. Het opgaande werk bestaat uit rood/paarse handgevormde baksteen gemetseld in kruisverband op een cementen plint met aan de bovenkant een kroonlijst en fries. Het dak is belegd met grijze Oudhollandse pannen.
De met glas voorziene voordeuren van de huizen no. 2 en 4 hebben siersmeedijzeren doorzichtroosters. De voordeur van no. 6 is uitgevoerd als pseudo-dubbele deur met een gestoken naald en twee kleine spioneerraampjes voorzien van een smeedijzeren roostertje. Boven de deuren bevindt zich een bovenlicht. De schuifvensters van de huizen, oorspronkelijk met een zesruits verdeling, hebben nu slechts een twee- of een T-verdeling. In de eerste travee van huis no. 2 aan de kant van het Wilhelminapark bevindt zich een etalagevenster met een drieruits verdeling in het bovenlicht, dat verwijst naar de oorspronkelijke winkelfunctie van het huis.

De huizen zijn van algemeen belang. Three RESIDENTIAL HOUSES from around 1860, presumably built by miller Claassens, who had his shop in the leftmost house adjoining the Wilhelminapark at no. 2. The houses stand in the core of the Veldhoven district, on the corner of the linear development of the Gasthuisring. They form a detached block that with the combined front or western facade faces the street.
Description
The single-storey residential houses with an attic storey have a shared gabled roof between spout gables. Two dwellings are three bays wide with the front door in the middle flanked by a window. The rightmost dwelling is only two bays wide consisting of a door and a window. The wall openings in the front facade are bordered by a moulded stucco border. The structural work consists of red/purple hand-formed brick laid in stretcher bond on a cement plinth with at the top a cornice and frieze. The roof is covered with grey old Dutch tiles.
The glazed front doors of houses no. 2 and 4 have ornamental wrought-iron viewing grilles. The front door of no. 6 is executed as a pseudo-double door with a stuck needle and two small spy windows fitted with a wrought-iron grill. Above the doors is a fanlight. The sash windows of the houses, originally with a six-light glazing, now have only a two-light or a T-division. In the first bay of house no. 2 on the side of the Wilhelminapark is a shop window with a three-light division in the fanlight, which refers to the original shop function of the house.
