Inleiding
Het voormalige WOONHUIS, dat in het derde kwart van de negentiende eeuw werd gebouwd voor de familie Brouwers, fungeert als kantoor. Het half vrijstaande pand is opgetrokken in Eclecticistische trant met Neo-classicistische elementen. In 1924 werd het interieur verbouwd en kreeg het een Art Déco aankleding, gebruik makend van late Jugendstil motieven. Het pand maakt deel uit van een gevelwand in de binnenstad.
Omschrijving
Het tweelaagse onderkelderde pand heeft een schilddak met zwarte Oudhollandse dakpannen en het heeft een L-vormige plattegrond. De plint is uitgevoerd in hardsteen met hardstenen cassettenverdeling, daarboven is de gevel gepleisterd. Rechts bevinden zich twee schuifvensters met geprofileerde omlijsting en terracotta kuiven.
Links bevindt zich de paneeldeur in een korfboogportiek met kuif. De paneeldeur is gevernist en voorzien van een sierrooster. Het bovenlicht is van glas-in-lood met een Art Déco golfpatroon. Het portiek wordt geflankeerd door lijsten. Daarboven verheft zich de rechthoekige erker op zware consoles. Deze erker heeft samengestelde vensters met middenkuif en oreillons in de omlijsting. De beide vensters op de etage rechts hebben een korfboogvormig bovenlicht en brede geornamenteerde kuiven. De brede geprofileerde gootlijst rust op bewerkte voluutconsoles met klossen. De erker is tevens voorzien van een driehoekig fronton als bekroning. De linkerzijgevel bezit diverse vierruits ramen met glas-in-lood vulling, net als het korfboogvormige venster naast de ingang. Op de etage bevindt zich een balkon met deuren, vermoedelijk een aanvulling uit de jaren vijftig. Het huis is aan de achterzijde uitgebreid met een tweelaags deel onder zadeldak en een deel met plat dak. Daarnaast, in de achtergevel een driezijdige erker met daarboven een loggia op ronde houten pilaren en een opengewerkte rondboogbalustrade.
Achter de voordeur is een tochtportaal, met links een Art Déco glas-in-lood raam. De ruimte is doorgebroken, maar de oorspronkelijke indeling is zichtbaar aan twee Art Déco bovenlichten die in situ zijn gebleven. Alle doorgangen zijn aan de bovenzijde getoogd.
Een gang leidt naar de grote voorkamer rechts, nis met sanitair links, een centrale hal achter de voorkamer met links een trappartij en achter de hal een grote achterkamer. Op de vloer van hal en gang ligt visgraatparket met donkere sierbanden onder een moderne vloer. De lambrizering van gang, hal en voorkamer bestaat uit donkere houten panelen met gestileerd Jugendstil bloemmotief. De voorkamer is voorzien van een wit marmeren Neo-classicistische schouw. In de hoek bij de voorgevel staat een gerestaureerde hoekbank met bijbehorende in de lambrizering verwerkte ranke houten kastjes met sierbeslag. In de achterwand van de kamer bevinden zich hoge Art Déco ramen. Links van de hal bevindt zich een grote nis. Het einde van de gang leidt links naar de houten bordestrap met sobere Art Déco bol- en kubusdecoraties op de balusters. Hieronder is de toegangsdeur naar de kelder. Deze kelder is voorzien van getoogde gemetselde opbergplaatsen voor wijn. Rechts komt men in een centrale hal. Deze wordt van boven verlicht door een achthoekige lichtkoepel, voorzien van ovalen glas-in-lood ramen. Via deze ruimte komt men in de achterkamer, die wordt gedomineerd door een grote houten schouw. In het hout is de tekst: "Eigen haert goud waert". In het houtwerk zijn veelkleurige Jugendstil vrouwenhoofdjes verwerkt. In de achterkamer op de etage bevindt zich een witte Empire-achtige schouw. De andere kamers zijn vereenvoudigd.
Waardering

The property forms part of a facade group in the town centre.
Description
The two-storey cellarage property has a hipped roof with black Old Dutch roof tiles and has an L-shaped plan. The plinth is executed in ashlar with ashlar cassette panelling; above this the facade is plastered. On the right are two sash windows with moulded framing and terracotta cornices.
On the left is the panelled door in a segmental-arch portico with cornice. The panelled door is varnished and provided with a decorative grille. The fanlight is stained glass with an Art Deco wave pattern. The portico is flanked by mouldings. Above rises the rectangular canted bay on heavy consoles. This canted bay has composite windows with central cornice and ear-pieces in the framing. Both windows on the first floor on the right have a segmental-arch fanlight and wide decorated cornices. The broad moulded guttering rests on worked scroll consoles with blocks. The canted bay is also provided with a triangular pediment as a crown. The left side wall has various four-pane windows with stained glass fill, as does the segmental-arch window next to the entrance. On the first floor is a balcony with doors, probably an addition from the nineteen-fifties. The house is extended at the rear with a two-storey section under gabled roof and a section with flat roof. Moreover, in the rear wall a three-sided canted bay with above it a loggia on round wooden columns and an openwork semicircular balustrade.
Behind the front door is a draught vestibule, with on the left an Art Deco stained glass window. The space is open, but the original layout is visible from two Art Deco fanlights that remain in situ. All doorways are arched at the top.
A corridor leads to the large front room on the right, a niche with sanitary facilities on the left, a central hall behind the front room with a staircase on the left and behind the hall a large back room. The floor of the hall and corridor has herringbone parquet with dark decorative bands under a modern floor. The wainscoting of corridor, hall and front room consists of dark wooden panels with stylised Jugendstil floral motif. The front room is furnished with a white marble Neo-classical fireplace. In the corner by the front facade stands a restored corner bench with associated slender wooden cupboards built into the wainscoting with decorative fittings. In the rear wall of the room are tall Art Deco windows. To the left of the hall is a large niche. The end of the corridor leads to the left to the wooden straight staircase with plain Art Deco bulb and cube decorations on the balusters. Below this is the entrance door to the cellar. This cellar is furnished with arched brick storage compartments for wine. On the right one enters a central hall.
