Inleiding

Description
Introduction
In the garden a few metres behind the house, in the extension of the wing placed perpendicular to the road, a half-buried, partly brick, partly concrete tarred semicircular SHELTER. Construction of the 'shelter' was begun in 1942 on the orders of Fr. Mutsaerts de Beer. On 5 March 1943 the shelter was complete. According to the building drawing there are in the shelter at the rear a gas lock and there is a toilet and shower present. In the granted building permit mention is made of a shelter consisting of four concrete rings each 1 m long and a diameter of 2 metres, around which a single-brick wall. On this 80 centimetres of sand was applied and finally a so-called 'rubble wall'.
Description
The shelter consists of four concrete rings, each 1 m long with a diameter of 2 m. Around this a single-brick wall on which at least 80 cm of sand and a rubble wall. The cellar thus created is accessible by means of a mortared entrance section provided with bevelled corners with T-shaped entrance. One entrance is bricked in, the other closed with an iron grating. In a cemented part of the entrance section the date '5-11-19.' has been applied.
Valuation
The object is of general importance due to cultural-historical values through the connection with historical developments in the Second World War. The object is also of importance as a particular expression of a technical and typological development as an example of a shelter made of concrete rings in which the very effective reinforcement by means of metal bands is lacking. For this reason the object is also of importance due to architectural-historical values because of the use of materials and their application and the coherence between interior and exterior. The object is of importance due to ensemble value in that it forms part of a larger whole that is of general cultural and architectural-historical importance due to the relation with the nearby exceptional dwelling house. The object is also of importance due to the integrity of both interior and exterior and because of the typological and functional rarity connected with the particular construction date.
