Inleiding
De HISTORISCHE PARKAANLEG op Boekesteijn is grotendeels in het laatste kwart van de 18de eeuw en in de loop van de 19de eeuw tot stand gekomen, waarbij enkele oudere elementen bewaard zijn gebleven.
Omschrijving
De huidige parkaanleg in Engelse Landschapsstijl bestaat uit een parkbos met slingerpaden, afgewisseld door open plekken in de vorm van weide- en bouwgrond. Het huis ligt met de voorgevel naar het Noordeinde georiënteerd in een open ruimte met gazon, omzoomd door boom- en heestergroepen. Voor het huis een gebogen oprijlaan die via twee bruggen over de kavelsloot evenwijdig aan het Noordeinde te bereiken is. Vanuit het midden van de achtergevel loopt een rechte as in oostelijke richting door het parkbos, over een weiland tot in het achterste gedeelte van het park. Verder in het bos grotendeels slingerpaden en twee vijverpartijen, één in de zichtas en één aan de noordzijde van het weiland. Tussen het parkbos en de boomgaard achter de boerderij Brambergen een strook open weidegrond. Tussen de Oude Meentweg en de noord-zuid georiënteerde rechte kavelsloot westelijk daarvan een toegangslaan vanaf de Oude Meentweg. Deze laan slingert in westelijke richting door het bos en eindigt bij een rechte oost-west laan die langs de boerderij naar het Noordeinde leidt. Deze laan, de kavelsloten en de rechte as vanuit het huis zijn restanten van de oudere formele aanleg.
Waardering
De historisch park- en tuinaanleg op de buitenplaats Boekesteijn is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en tuinhistorische waarde als representatief en grotendeels gaaf bewaard gebleven parkaanleg in Engelse Landschapsstijl, daterend uit de periode 1770-1900, waarin enkele elementen van de oudere formele aanleg zichtbaar zijn gebleven. The present park layout in English Landscape style consists of a park woodland with winding paths, alternated by open spaces in the form of meadow and arable land. The house is oriented with its front facade towards the Noordeinde in an open space with a lawn, bordered by groups of trees and shrubs. In front of the house a curved access drive which is reached via two bridges over the ditch running parallel to the Noordeinde. From the centre of the rear facade a straight axis runs in an easterly direction through the park woodland, over a meadow to the rear part of the park. Further into the wood mostly winding paths and two bodies of water, one in the sight line and one on the north side of the meadow. Between the park wood and the orchard behind the farm Brambergen a strip of open meadow land. Between the Oude Meentweg and the north-south oriented straight ditch to the west of it an access drive from the Oude Meentweg. This drive winds in a westerly direction through the wood and ends at a straight east-west drive that runs along the farm to the Noordeinde. This drive, the ditches and the straight axis from the house are remnants of the older formal layout.
