Inleiding
HEK, behorende tot een complex met een loods voor de opslag van natte schietkatoen, gebouwd tussen 1865-1870 binnen de vesting en marinehaven te Hellevoetsluis. Het hekwerk is identiek aan het hekwerk rondom het uit 1665 daterende kruithuis, dat tegenover de loods in bastion V is gesitueerd.
Omschrijving
Het gietijzeren hek is geplaatst rondom een L-vormig terrein, grotendeels op slechts een halve meter afstand van de loods. Het hekwerk is opgebouwd uit gecanneleerde gietijzeren kolommen, waartussen zich telkens acht spijlen bevinden, die zijn bevestigd aan drie liggers.

Het hek is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische en de ensemblewaarde.

FENCE, belonging to a complex with a storage shed for wet gunpowder cotton, built between 1865-1870 within the fortress and naval harbour of Hellevoetsluis. The fencing is identical to the fencing around the powder magazine dating from 1665, which is situated in bastion V opposite the shed.
Description
The cast-iron fence is placed around an L-shaped plot, largely only at a distance of half a metre from the shed. The fencing is constructed from fluted cast-iron columns, between which are eight rods each, which are attached to three beams.
