Omschrijving
HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG behorende tot de historische buitenplaats Darthuizen. Grootschalige en toch besloten tuin- en parkaanleg in landschappelijke stijl naar een ontwerp van L. H. Springer uit 1917. Huis en park kwamen gelijktijdig tot stand en vormen één architectonisch concept. Het huis is zo in de aanleg geplaatst dat er een optimale wisselwerking is met de omgeving. Vanuit het huis zijn er weidse gezichten op de door bos omzoomde weilanden, die oorspronkelijk tot een ter plaatse gevestigd boerderijcomplex behoorden. Deels doorgestoken houtwallen, sloten en als coulissen fungerende bosranden zorgen voor een gevarieerd blikveld. De tuinaanleg rond het huis komt in grote lijnen overeen met het overgeleverde ontwerp van Springer. Het huis ligt aan een halfronde oprit en wordt geflankeerd door groenzônes met een gevarieerde samenstelling. Aan de overzijde van de oprit staan twee leilinden, zij markeren de plaats waar eerder een boerderij stond; iets verder de weilanden in bevindt zich een ronde poel. Ter linkerzijde van het huis ligt een klein wandelbos; rechtsachter het huis een grillig gevormde vijver en rechtsvoor het restant van een oorspronkelijk veel grotere boomgaard, omsloten door een oude beukenhaag. Achter het huis leidt een trapje van het terras naar de lager gelegen tuin, die bestaat uit een gazon gestoffeerd met heesters en boomgroepen. Oorspronkelijk lag er overeenkomstig Springers ontwerp onderaan de trap een grote rechthoekige vijver, van het terras gescheiden door enkele formele perken met exoten, zowel de vijver als de perken zijn in de loop der tijd verdwenen.

HISTORICAL GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT belonging to the historical estate Darthuizen. Large-scale yet enclosed garden and park layout in landscape style after a design by L. H. Springer from 1917. House and park were created simultaneously and form one architectural concept. The house is positioned in the layout so that there is optimal interaction with the surroundings. From the house there are extensive views of the meadows bordered by woodland, which originally belonged to a farm complex located there. Partially penetrated hedgerows, ditches and woodland edges functioning as coulisses provide for a varied field of view. The garden layout around the house corresponds in broad outline with the preserved design by Springer. The house is situated on a semicircular drive and is flanked by green zones with a varied composition. On the opposite side of the drive stand two lime trees, they mark the place where a farm stood earlier; slightly further into the meadows is a round pond. To the left of the house lies a small woodland walk; to the rear right of the house an irregularly shaped pond and to the front right the remnant of an originally much larger orchard, enclosed by an old beech hedge. Behind the house a small flight of steps leads from the terrace to the lower-lying garden, which consists of a lawn furnished with shrubs and groups of trees. Originally in accordance with Springer's design there lay at the foot of the steps a large rectangular pond, separated from the terrace by several formal beds with exotic plants, both the pond and the beds have disappeared over time.
