Inleiding
Het HERENHUIS, gelegen op de hoek van de Willem-II-singel en het Stationsplein, is gebouwd in Traditionele stijl met Classicistische invloeden, XIXd. In 1938 is het pand intern op beperkte schaal verbouwd en in 1954 is het pand verbouwd tot kantoorpand. In 1969 is links van het pand een volume van twee lagen gebouwd, dat intern met het oorspronkelijke pand is verbonden.
Omschrijving
Het HERENHUIS heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond in drie bouwlagen met een souterrain en is gelegen onder een half schilddak met tuile du Nord met enkele kleine dakramen. De gevels aan de straatzijden hebben een geprofileerde hardstenen plint en een gepleisterde opstand, in de eerste laag met rustica. De linkerzijgevel is in baksteen metselwerk in kruisverband. In de gevels bevinden zich hoofdzakelijk rechthoekige houten kozijnen met dubbele vensters met bovenlicht. De vensters in de derde laag zijn minder hoog. Aan de straatzijden bevinden de vensters zich in decoratief gestucte lijsten met sluitsteen met diamant en in de plint bevinden zich segmentboogvormige vensters met bovenlicht achter een smeedijzeren hekwerk. Onder alle vensters bevinden zich cordonlijsten met stucwerk in de borstwering. Deze gevels eindigen met een kroonlijst met decoratief gestucte gootklossen, waartussen bloktanden en stucwerk onder een gootoverstek.
De GEVEL aan de Willem-II-singel is symmetrisch van opbouw en bestaat uit vijf traveeën met centraal een risaliet met verdiept gelegen entree. Deze is bereikbaar via vier hardstenen treden en heeft een niet authentieke deur. Boven de entree bevindt zich een hardstenen balkon op geprofileerde hardstenen consoles met smeedzijderen balkonhek. Hier bevindt zich een dubbele balkondeur met bovenlicht, waarboven een halfrond gebroken fronton op kleine consoles. In derde laag bevindt zich nog een venster met rond houten kozijn in ronde gestucte lijst met guirlandes.
De GEVEL aan het Stationsplein bestaat uit drie traveeën en lijkt verder op de gevel aan de Willem-II-singel.
Tegen de LINKERZIJGEVEL staat het volume uit 1969, dat buiten de bescherming valt. In de tweede laag bevinden zich twee stalen vensters en in de derde laag twee kleine houten vensters.
De STRUCTUUR van het INTERIEUR is in redelijk mate in tact hetgeen blijkt uit de situering van gangen, trappenhuis en kamers.
Een WAARDEVOL INTERIEURONDERDEEL is onder andere het authentieke trappenhuis vanaf de tweede bouwlaag.
Waardering
Het HERENHUIS aan de Willem-II-singel bezit architectuurhistorische waarden vanwege het bijzonder belang voor de geschiedenis van de architectuur, de hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp, het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de rijke en uitbundige ornamentiek in de gevels. De ensemblewaarden worden bepaald door de bijzondere betekenis van het object vanwege de situering aan de Willem II singel en het Stationsplein verbonden met de ontwikkeling en uitbreiding van de stad Roermond ter plaatse van de singels. The MANSION, located at the corner of the Willem-II-singel and the Stationsplein, was built in Traditional style with Classical influences, 19th century. In 1938 the building was internally renovated on a limited scale and in 1954 the building was converted into an office building. In 1969 a two-storey volume was constructed to the left of the building, which is internally connected to the original building.
Description
The MANSION has a rectangular ground plan in three storeys with a basement and is situated under a half-hipped roof with Flemish tiles with several small roof lights. The facades at street frontages have a moulded stone plinth and a rendered facing, on the first storey with rustication. The left side facade is in brick masonry in cross bond. The facades contain mainly rectangular wooden window frames with double windows with fanlights. The windows on the third storey are lower in height. On the street frontages the windows are set in decorative stuccoed surrounds with keystones with diamond work and in the plinth there are segmental arch-shaped windows with fanlights behind wrought-iron grille work. Below all windows are string courses with stuccowork on the breastwalling. These facades terminate with a cornice with decoratively stuccoed modillions, between which are block dentils and stuccowork under a projecting gutter.
The FACADE facing the Willem-II-singel is symmetrically composed and consists of five bays with centrally a risalit with a recessed entrance. This is reached via four stone steps and has a non-authentic door. Above the entrance is a stone balcony on moulded stone consoles with wrought-iron balcony railing. Here is a double balcony door with fanlight, above which a semicircular broken pediment on small consoles. On the third storey is another window with a round wooden frame in a round stuccoed surround with garland work.
The FACADE facing the Stationsplein consists of three bays and is otherwise similar to the facade facing the Willem-II-singel.
Against the LEFT SIDE FACADE stands the volume from 1969, which is outside the protected area. On the second storey are two steel windows and on the third storey two small wooden windows.
The STRUCTURE of the INTERIOR is reasonably intact, as is evident from the positioning of corridors, staircase and rooms.
