Inleiding
Grote vrijstaande boerderij in carrévorm. De boerderij is in de Maasuiterwaarden gesitueerd ten westen van de Maas nabij het buurtschap de Weerd. Het woonhuisgedeelte dateert van omstreeks 1860. Het bedrijfsgedeelte is gebouwd in XIXA.
De toegepaste bouwstijl is traditionalistisch.
In de onmiddellijke nabijheid van het woonhuis staat een bakhuis uit 1807.
Omschrijving
De boerderij wordt gevormd door een gesloten carré van rechthoekige vleugels, ongelijk in hoogte en breedte, rond een rechthoekige binnenplaats. Het rechthoekige woonhuis is op de noord-westelijke hoek in het carré ingevoegd maar bevindt zich grotendeels buiten het vierkant. De plattegrond van het woonhuis wordt in tweeën gedeeld door een gang. Het woonhuis heeft twee bouwlagen en een kapverdieping. Het woonhuis heeft een met rode Muldenpannen gedekt zadeldak. Tegen de achtergevel van het woonhuis is een aanbouw onder kap geplaatst. De schuren en de stallen hebben twee lagere bouwlagen. De onderdelen van het carré zijn onder zadel-, lessenaar- of schilddaken gebracht.
Het carré met het woonhuis en de schuren en de stallen is opgetrokken uit in kruisverband verwerkte donkerrode baksteen.
Het WOONHUIS. De rechthoekige voorgevel van het woonhuis wordt horizontaal geleed door een geteerde plint, een bakstenen daklijst en een houten bakgoot. Midden in de gevel bevindt zich, in een getoogd portiek boven een trap met zes hardstenen treden de voordeur. Op de begane grond heeft de voorgevel links van de deur twee, en rechts van de deur een getoogd vierruits stolpvenster met bovenlicht. De vensters bevinden zich onder een bakstenen strek en hebben een grijs kunststenen lekdorpel. De bovenverdieping heeft een reeks van vier getoogde vierruits stolpvensters met bovenlichten. De linkerzijgevel van het woonhuis is een puntgevel met in de geveltop twee gekoppelde rondboogvensters. Tegen de blinde rechterzijgevel leunt een lagere schuur, deel uitmakend van het carré. De rechthoekige achtergevel heeft een aanbouw van een enkele bouwlaag onder een plat dak.
Het BEDRIJFSGEDEELTE. De westelijke stal in het carré heeft aan de buitenzijde, haaks op de voorgevel van het woonhuis, een lange rechthoekige gevel van twee bouwlagen. Direct tegen het woonhuis is in deze vleugel een poorthuis gevestigd met uiterst links een poort onder een korfboog. Daarboven en rechts daarvan bevinden zich in totaal drie rechthoekige vensters met dubbelruits stolpramen. Deze vensters bezitten een natuurstenen omlijsting.
Verder naar rechts heeft deze gevel diverse segmentboogvormige vensters met daarboven hooizolderluiken. Rechts in deze gevel een tweede poort onder een korfboog.
Hier vormt de gevel de voorgevel van een haaks op deze stal staande schuur onder een schilddak. In de zijgevel heeft deze schuur diverse rechthoekige vensters en deuren.
In de achtergevel heeft deze schuur twee poorten onder korfbogen. Tegen de veel lagere achtergevel van de stal haaks op de schuur een gereedschapsschop. In deze noordelijke vleugel tevens een vml. kippenhok en vml. varkensstal. Tussen het vml.
kippenhok en het vml. knechtenhuis een rechthoekige houten poort naar de binnenplaats. Op de noordwestelijke hoek bevindt zich het vml. knechtenhuis met rechthoekige houten deur en enkele vensters. Vensters met gecementeerde dorpelstenen. Op de achtergevel van het vml. knechtenhuis sluit de westelijke vleugel aan. In deze gevel enkele halfronde stalvensters. In het verlengde van deze vleugel bevindt zich het woonhuis.
BINNENPLAATSGEVELS.
In de schuurgevel twee rondboogvormige houten poorten. Enkele binnenplaatsgevels wit gesausd. Rondboogvormige-, rechthoekige en segmentboogvormige vensters. Enkele deuren en vensters vernieuwd.
Structuur van het INTERIEUR van het woonhuis is in redelijke mate in tact hetgeen blijkt uit de situering van gang, trappenhuis en kamers. Schuur met oorspronkelijke kapconstructie met houten spanten met pen-gat verbindingen.
Het BAKHUIS heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond met een enkele bouwlaag en een kapverdieping onder een zadeldak met rode oud Hollandse pannen. Het bakhuis is opgetrokken uit in kruisverband verwerkte rode, wit gesausde, baksteen. De zuidelijke gevel van het bakhuis is een symmetrische puntgevel met vlechtingen en een geteerde plint. Op de begane grond heeft de gevel twee getoogde vensters. In de geveltop een rechthoekig venster. Siermetselwerk in de geveltop toont het jaartal 1807. In de linkerzijgevel een rechthoekige deur en venster. In de rechterzijgevel een rechthoekige deur. In het bakhuisje is de schouw van de oven nog aanwezig.
Waardering
De Hoeve De Donck bezit cultuurhistorisiche waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische en typologische ontwikkeling van 19de-eeuwse hofboerderijen. De boerderij bezit architectuurhistorische waarde wegens het bijzondere belang van het object voor de bovenregionale geschiedenis van de architectuur, de esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp; het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek.
De boerderij is een gaaf voorbeeld van de voor het gebied typische hofboerderijen. De ligging van het woonhuis buiten het carré van de gebouwen is binnen de groep van de hofboerderijen zeldzaam. Ensemblewaarde ontleent de boerderij aan haar markante ligging in Maasuiterwaarden. Het object is tenslotte van algemeen belang wegens de redelijke mate van architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en de architectuurhistorische zeldzaamheid.
Voor het bakhuis geldt bovendien dat het een specimen betreft van een zeldzaam geworden bouwtype.

Description
The farmhouse is formed by a closed square of rectangular wings, unequal in height and width, around a rectangular courtyard. The rectangular residential house is inserted at the north-western corner of the square but is situated largely outside the square. The plan of the residential house is divided in two by a corridor. The residential house has two storeys and an attic storey. The residential house has a gabled roof covered with red Mulden tiles. Against the rear facade of the residential house an addition under roof has been placed. The barns and the stalls have two lower storeys. The components of the square are covered with gabled, catslip or hipped roofs.
The square with the residential house and the barns and stalls is built up of dark red brickwork laid in English bond.
The RESIDENTIAL HOUSE. The rectangular front facade of the residential house is articulated horizontally by a tarred plinth, a brick cornice and a wooden gutter. In the middle of the facade, in an arched porch above a flight of steps with six stone steps, is the front door. On the ground floor the front facade has, to the left of the door, two, and to the right of the door, an arched four-light casement window with fanlight. The windows are located beneath a brick arch and have a grey artificial stone drip moulding. The upper storey has a series of four arched four-light casement windows with fanlights. The left side facade of the residential house is a stepped gable with two coupled round-arched windows in the gable apex. Against the blind right side facade leans a lower barn, forming part of the square. The rectangular rear facade has an addition of a single storey under a flat roof.
The BUSINESS SECTION. The western stall in the square has, on the outside, at right angles to the front facade of the residential house, a long rectangular facade of two storeys. Directly against the residential house is a gatehouse situated in this wing with, at the far left, a gate under a basket arch. Above and to the right of it are situated in total three rectangular windows with double-light casement windows. These windows have a natural stone surround.
Further to the right this facade has various segment-arched windows with hay-loft hatches above them. To the right in this facade a second gate under a basket arch.
Here the facade forms the front facade of a barn at right angles to this stall under a hipped roof. In the side facade this barn has various rectangular windows and doors.
In the rear facade this barn has two gates under basket arches. Against the much lower rear facade of the stall, at right angles to the barn, a tool shed. In this northern wing also a former chicken coop and former pigsty. Between the former chicken coop and the former servant's house a rectangular wooden gate to the courtyard. On the north-western corner is situated the former servant's house with rectangular wooden door and several windows. Windows with cemented sill stones. On the rear facade of the former servant's house the western wing is adjoined. In this facade several half-round stall windows. In the extension of this wing is situated the residential house.
COURTYARD FACADES.
In the barn facade two round-arched wooden gates. Several courtyard facades whitewashed. Round-arched, rectangular and segment-arched windows. Several doors and windows renewed.
Structure of the INTERIOR of the residential house is in reasonable condition as evidenced by the location of corridor, staircase and rooms. Barn with original roof truss structure with wooden rafters with mortise and tenon joints.
The BAKEHOUSE has a rectangular plan with a single storey and an attic storey under a gabled roof with red old Dutch tiles. The bakehouse is built up of red brickwork in English bond, whitewashed. The southern facade of the bakehouse is a symmetrical stepped gable with timber framing and a tarred plinth. On the ground floor the facade has two arched windows. In the gable apex a rectangular window. Decorative brickwork in the gable apex shows the date 1807. In the left side facade a rectangular door and window. In the right side facade a rectangular door. In the bakehouse the flue of the oven is still present.
Valuation
The Hoeve De Donck possesses cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a socio-economic and typological development of 19th-century courtyard farmhouses. The farmhouse possesses architectural-historical value due to the particular significance of the object for the supra-regional history of architecture, the aesthetic qualities of the design; the particular use of materials and the ornamentation.
The farmhouse is a genuine example of the courtyard farmhouses typical for the area. The location of the residential house outside the square of the buildings is rare within the group of courtyard farmhouses. The farmhouse derives ensemble value from its striking location in the Maasuiterwaarden. The object is finally of general interest due to the reasonable degree of architectural integrity of the exterior and the architectural-historical rarity.
For the bakehouse it furthermore applies that it concerns a specimen of a rarely-occurring building type.
