Inleiding
Woonhuis-apotheek gesitueerd in de westelijke straatwand van de Neerstraat. Het pand werd gebouwd in 1887 en de toegepaste bouwstijl is traditionalistisch met elementen Neo-renaissance.
Aan de achtergevel een aanbouw uit 1973.
Omschrijving
WOONHUIS en APOTHEEK. Symmetrische indeling voorgevel. Het pand telt drie bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt met een schilddak met Tuiles du Nord pannen.
Rechthoekige houten vensters en deuren met bovenlichten.
Vensters in tweede en derde bouwlaag met glas-in-lood. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal in baksteen en hardsteen.
Plint bekleed met hardsteen. In het linkergeveldeel twee decoratieve smeedijzeren kelderroosters, aan de rechterzijde voor de kelderopeningen een metalen plaat. Eerste bouwlaag voorgevel verticaal geleed door een viertal hardstenen pilasters. Aan benedenzijde vensters eerste bouwlaag een doorlopende hardstenen lekdorpel. In het rechterdeel voorgevel een groot etalagevenster; in het linkerdeel twee woonhuisvensters. Authentieke houten paneeldeur met drie toegangstreden in hardsteen. Eerste bouwlaag aan de bovenzijde afgesloten met een kroonlijst met hierin de naam "F A Haan Apotheek".
Aan de bovenzijde van de ingang een stenen hertenkop met gewei.
Aan de bovenzijde van de eerste bouwlaag een horizontale band stucwerk met hierin een horizontale band decoratief tegelwerk.
In de tweede bouwlaag drie vensters in een rondboogvormige metselwerk omlijsting. In de derde bouwlaag drie vensters in een segmentboogvormige omlijsting. Tweede en derde bouwlaag met gepleisterde speklagen en decoratieve smeedijzeren muurankers.
Middendeel voorgevel uitlopend in een topgevelachtige dakkapel.
Dakkapel met rechthoekig houten venster met bovenlicht in een rondboogvormige metselwerk omlijsting. Bekroning van de dakkapel werd in 1993 bij een aardbeving beschadigd en niet hersteld.
Voorgevel met decoratieve kroonlijst die door de dakkapel in tweeën wordt gedeeld. Elk deel met vier gestuctie consoles en decoratief tegelwerk.
Aan de achtergevel een uitbouw in twee bouwlagen met plat dak.
Aan de noordzijde van de uitbouw een aanbouw in een bouwlaag met plat dak uit 1973.
Van het INTERIEUR is onder meer het volgende van belang.
Entreeportaal met vloertje met zwarte tegels met hiertussen kleine witte marmer tegeltjes. In het portaal aan de rechterzijde de hoge dubbele toegangsdeur naar de apotheek. In het verlengde van de voordeur de deur naar het woonhuisgedeelte.
Vrijwel authentiek apotheekinterieur met rijk geornamenteerde wandkasten met schappen. In de basis van de kasten houten laden.
Stijlen van de kasten in pilastervorm met vergulde kantelen. In deze stijlen zijn hoge kastjes weggewerkt. Authentieke toonbank gedekt met een marmer plaat en aan de voorzijde deels rustend op vijf zuiltjes. Vloer van de apotheek met zwarte tegels met hierussen kleine witte marmer tegeltjes. Plafond met stucwerk rozet. Apotheekruimte doorlopend in aangebouwd deel. In de oorspronkelijke buitengevel, thans de muur tussen apotheek en aanbouw is een eerste steen ingemetseld met het jaartal 1887. In de gang van het woonhuisgedeelte twee plafondconsoles in cariatidenvorm. Authentieke trap met hoofdbaluster met houtsnijwerk.
Waardering
Apotheek Haan bezit cultuurhistorische waarden vanwege de typologie en de funktie als apotheek. De architectuurhistorische waarden worden bepaald door het bijzonder belang van het pand voor de geschiedenis van de architectuur, vanwege de vormgeving van de voorgevel en het authentieke apotheekinterieur.
