Inleiding
Het Halfvrijstaand HERENHUIS is gelegen op de hoek van bebouwing aan de Godsweerdersingel en maakt onderdeel uit van het beschermd stadsgezicht Roermond. Het pand is gebouwd onder invloed van de Neo-Renaissance in 1901. Voor de oorspronkelijke garage is omstreeks 1990 een nieuwe garage gebouwd. Enkele vensters in de achtergevel zijn vernieuwd.
Omschrijving
Het HERENHUIS heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond in twee bouwlagen onder een afgeknot en geknikt tentdak met leien in Maasdekking en twee nokschoorstenen. De gevels hebben een geprofileerde grijs en beige gepleisterde plint en een optrek van baksteen in kruisverband. In de gevels bevinden zich twee- en driedelige rechthoekige houten kozijnen met twee- en driedelige bovenlichten met geel figuurglas of gekleurd glas-in-lood. In de voor- en zijgevel liggen de kozijnen verdiept in segmentboogvormige gepleisterde lijsten met afgeknotte diamantkoppen. Verder speklagen en cordonlijsten.
De VOORGEVEL bestaat uit twee delen waarvan het linker iets uitspringt. In de eerste laag van de risaliet bevinden zich een driedelig venster en een originele houten paneeldeur met smeedijzeren hekwerk en geel glas. De deur en venster liggen in een tot in de topgevel oplopende lijst. De gevel wordt boven het driedelig venster in de tweede laag onderbroken door een goot op consoles. Hierboven bevindt zich een tweedelig venster met rondboogvormig bovenlicht in de topgevel met hardstenen afdekstenen en schouderstukken met nokpionnen. Boven het venster is een gevelsteen met het jaartal "1901" aangebracht. Het rechtergeveldeel heeft in beide lagen een driedelig venster. Op de overgang van de voorgevel naar de zijgevel is de hoek afgeschuind. Deze heeft in de eerste laag een tweedelig venster, in de tweede laag een balkon op geprofileerde consoles met gewelfd smeedijzeren hekwerk met afbeeldingen van bloemen.
Verder een dubbele balkondeur waarboven een achthoekige steen met ronde opening ter hoogte van een speklaag. De gevel eindigt in een torentje met dubbelvenster onder een gewelfd dak op consoles.
De ZIJGEVEL bestaat uit drie traveeën waarvan de twee rechter in de eerste laag met dubbel venster met gekleurd glas-in-lood bovenlichten. De overige vensters zijn dichtgemetseld. Onder de goot bevinden zich consoles en op het dak staat een kleine dakkapel met dubbelvenster onder een zadeldak met gewelfde sierlijst en een klein dakraam.
Links tegen de ACHTERGEVEL staat een serre met aluminium kozijn met deur tussen twee vensters met bovenlichten. Het originele glas-in-lood met afbeelding van de vier seizoenen en een zwaluw is teruggeplaatst. Het balkon op de serre heeft een gemetselde balustrade met gecementeerde afdeklaag. In de gevel bevindt zich een kunststof balkondeur met zij- en bovenlichten, zonwering en op het dak een dakraam. Rechts naast de serre bevindt zich een uitbouw onder een platdak met in de gevel een deur en twee vensters. Een venster was oorspronkelijk een deur. Boven het platdak bevinden zich de oorspronkelijk bovenlichten in een wit gepleisterde geveldeel. In de tweede laag bevindt zich een dubbel venster met bovenlicht in segmentboog en links een smal venster. Op het dak staat een dakkapel met een plat dak.
De STRUCTUUR van het INTERIEUR is in redelijke mate in tact.
Waardevolle INTERIEURONDERDELEN zijn ondermeer plafondornamenten in woonkamer en hal, schuifdeuren met geslepen glas en de tussendeur met zij- en bovenlichten in geel en groen figuurglas.
Op de vloer in de hal bevindt zich de tekst "salve".
Waardering
Het HERENHUIS bezit cultuurhistorische waarden als typologisch voorbeeld van een herenhuis, gebouwd rond de eeuwwisseling. De architectuurhistorische waarden worden bepaald door het bijzondere belang voor de geschiedenis van de architectuur, vanwege de esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp, het materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek. Description
The TOWNHOUSE has a rectangular floor plan in two storeys under a truncated and angled ridge tent roof with slate tiles in Maas bond and two ridge chimneys. The facades have a profiled grey and beige rendered plinth and a course of bricks in cross bond. The facades contain two- and three-part rectangular timber sashes with two- and three-part fanlights with yellow figured glass or coloured leaded glass. In the front and side facades the sashes are recessed in segmental arch-shaped rendered lists with truncated diamond heads. Further speckled courses and string courses.
The FRONT FACADE consists of two parts of which the left projects slightly. In the first storey of the risalit there is a three-part window and an original timber panelled door with wrought-iron railings and yellow glass. The door and window are located in a list running up into the gable. The facade is interrupted above the three-part window in the second storey by a gutter on brackets. Above this is a two-part window with rounded arch fanlight in the gable with ashlar coping stones and shoulder pieces with ridge cresting. Above the window a facing stone with the date "1901" is mounted. The right part of the facade has a three-part window in both storeys. At the transition from the front facade to the side facade the corner is chamfered. This has a two-part window in the first storey, in the second storey a balcony on profiled brackets with arched wrought-iron railings with floral depictions.
Further a double balcony door above which an octagonal stone with circular opening at the level of a speckled course. The facade ends in a turret with double window under a curved roof on brackets.
The SIDE FACADE consists of three bays of which the two right ones in the first storey have a double window with coloured leaded glass fanlights. The remaining windows are blocked up. Under the gutter there are brackets and on the roof there is a small roof dormer with double window under a gabled roof with curved moulding and a small roof window.
To the left of the REAR FACADE stands a conservatory with aluminium sashes with a door between two windows with fanlights. The original leaded glass with depiction of the four seasons and a swallow has been restored. The balcony on the conservatory has a brick balustrade with cemented coping. The facade contains a plastic balcony door with side and fanlights, sun blinds and on the roof a roof window. To the right of the conservatory there is an extension under a flat roof with a door and two windows in the facade. One window was originally a door. Above the flat roof are the original fanlights in a white rendered facade section. In the second storey there is a double window with fanlight in segmental arch and to the left a narrow window. On the roof is a roof dormer with a flat roof.
The STRUCTURE of the INTERIOR is in reasonable condition.
Valuable INTERIOR COMPONENTS include ceiling ornaments in the living room and hall, sliding doors with polished glass and the partition door with side and fanlights in yellow and green figured glass.
