Omschrijving
Inleiding
BEAMBTENWONINGEN gelegen aan het Vrijveld in Roermond. De panden zijn gebouwd in 1921-1923 als het eerste grootschalige woningbouwproject aan de oostzijde van de spoorlijn. Deze panden aan de Ch. Ruysstraat vormen een complex met de tegenover gelegen woningen aan de Ch. Ruijsstraat en de woningen aan de Thorbeckestraat en P. Regoutstraat. De strook woningen bezit diverse typen woningen, springt regelmatig in en heeft diverse symmetrie-assen. De woningen variëren door de toepassing van erkers, inpandige en uitpandige balkons, topgevels met divers decoratief metselwerk en verschillende hoekoplossingen.
Enkele panden hebben nieuwe kozijnen, voordeur of een kleine niet-originele aanbouw achter.
Het pand met huisnummer 36 dateert uit 1934. Het ontwerp van dit pand wijkt weliswaar af van de overige panden in deze straatwand, maar vormt als beëindiging en afsluiting van deze wand een onmisbare schakel in het geheel.
Omschrijving
De BEAMBTENWONINGEN, met hoofdzakelijk rechthoekige of L-vormige plattegrond in twee bouwlagen onder een doorlopend schilddak evenwijdig aan de straatassen. Op het dak bevinden zich originele rode tuiles du Nord en dakkapellen of kleine dakramen.
Sommige panden hebben een topgevel aan de straatzijde. De panden hebben een opstand van metselwerk in kruisverband met een plint met rollaag. In de gevels bevinden zich hoofdzakelijk rechthoekige houten kozijnen met bovenlicht met roedeverdeling.
Boven de vensters een rollaag in decoratief metselwerk.
De VOORGEVELS van de panden bestaan uit twee traveeën, behalve de panden ter plaatse van een inspringend gevelvlak en de hoekoplossingen op de hoeken van de straten. De entree heeft een houten deur met ovaal venster onder een rondboogvormig bovenlicht. De panden hebben in de tweede laag geen bovenlicht, maar wel een roedeverdeling. Boven de entree is een enkel venster. De andere travee heeft per bouwlaag een driedelig venster. In de topgevels bevinden zich kleine vierkante vensters.
De ACHTERGEVELS bestaan ook uit twee traveeën, behalve de hoekpanden. Een aantal woningen heeft een oorspronkelijke uitbouw ter plaatse van de keuken en sommige panden hebben achter een balkon. Op de begane grond bevinden zich dubbele houten tuindeuren. De panden die terugliggen van de straat hebben een HEKWERK met spijlen en ronde accenten.
De STRUCTUUR van het INTERIEUR van de meeste panden is in tact hetgeen blijkt uit de situering van gang, trappenhuis en kamers.
Beschermingswaardige interieuronderdelen zijn onder andere de trappenhuizen en de schuifdeuren.
