Inleiding
Neo-gotische grafkapel van de familie Bongaerts. De kapel is tegen de kerkhofmuur aan de noordzijde van het kerkhof gesitueerd. Datering 1860. De bekendste telg uit het geslacht Bongaerts was ir. Max C.E. Bongaerts, hij was vele jaren lid van de Tweede Kamer en Minister van Waterstaat.
Omschrijving
Neo-gotische grafkapel is vrijwel geheel in natuursteen opgetrokken en afgedekt met een geknikt zadeldak met leien. Frontgevel met dubbele houten deur voorzien van houtsnijwerk in spitsboog- en vierpasmotief. Aan de benedenzijde is de deur voorzien van een decoratief smeedijzeren hekwerk. De deur bevindt zich in een spitsboogvormig geveldeel en wordt geflankeerd door twee hardstenen pilasters. In het spitsboogvormige vulstuk aan de bovenzijde van de deur een vierpasvormig glas-in-lood raam. Frontgevel loopt uit in topgevel met schouderstukjes en bekroond met een stenen kruisje. In de linker- en rechterzijgevel drie gekoppelde spitsboogvensters met glas-in-lood. Aan de bovenzijde van de vensters driepastracering. Achtergevel van de kapel aan de kerkhofmuurzijde bestaat uit gecementeerde baksteen voorzien van imitatievoegen.

De grafkapel bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke en typologische ontwikkeling in de architectuur van grafmonumenten op rooms-katholieke begraafplaatsen. De grafkapel bezit architectuurhistorische waarde wegens esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp, het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek. Description
Neo-Gothic funerary chapel is almost entirely built in natural stone and covered with a bent gabled roof with slates. Front facade with double wooden door provided with woodcarving in pointed-arch and quatrefoil motif. At the lower side the door is provided with decorative wrought iron grillwork. The door is located in a pointed-arch shaped facade section and is flanked by two hard stone pilasters. In the pointed-arch shaped filling piece at the upper side of the door a quatrefoil shaped stained-glass window. Front facade terminates in a stepped gable with shoulder pieces and crowned with a small stone cross. In the left and right side facades three coupled pointed-arch windows with stained glass. At the upper side of the windows three-foil tracery. Back facade of the chapel on the cemetery wall side consists of cemented brick provided with imitation joints.
