Inleiding
DIENSTGEBOUW, als onderdeel van de historische buitenplaats 'Het Plantagehuis'. De buitenplaats heeft zijn oorsprong als heerlijkheid 'Vreeland', die terug gaat tot in de 18de eeuw. In 1908 werd door de Amsterdamse koopman G.H. Hooft van Vreeland opdracht gegeven tot de bouw van het hoofdhuis in moorse stijl temidden van een landschappelijk aangelegd park.
Omschrijving
Het dienstgebouw uit omstreeks 1900 is gesitueerd binnen een groenstrook aan de westzijde van de Raadhuislaan in de as van de Kleizuwe. Het is een vrijstaand witgepleisterd pand van één bouwlaag onder een zadeldak met overstek, gedekt met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen. Aan de voorzijde (oostzijde) zijn windveren met een gesneden druppellijst aangebracht. Aan de achterzijde bevindt zich een gesneden schoor ter ondersteuning van het dakoverstek. Aan de voorzijde is deze grotendeels verdwenen. Rondom is een zwart geschilderde plint. In beide langsgevels is een ventilatie-opening aangebracht. De voorgevel bevat in het midden een dubbele deur. In de linker- en rechterzijgevel is een dichtgezet rondboogvenster geplaatst. De achtergevel is blind.
Waardering
Het gebouwtje is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een eenvoudig dienstgebouwtje, gaaf van hoofdvorm en met deels bewaarde oorspronkelijke detaillering. SERVICE BUILDING, as part of the historical country estate 'Het Plantagehuis'. The country estate has its origins as the lordship 'Vreeland', which dates back to the 18th century. In 1908, the Amsterdam merchant G.H. Hooft van Vreeland commissioned the construction of the main house in Moorish style in the middle of a landscaped park.
Description
The service building from around 1900 is situated within a green strip on the west side of the Raadhuislaan in the axis of the Kleizuwe. It is a detached white-rendered single-storey building under a gabled roof with eaves, covered with smothered Dutch tiles. On the front (east side) wind braces with a carved drip moulding are provided. On the rear side there is a carved brace supporting the roof eaves. On the front side this is largely lost. All around is a black-painted plinth. In both side elevations a ventilation opening is provided. The front facade contains a double door in the middle. In the left and right side elevation a blocked round-arched window is placed. The rear facade is blank.
Valuation
The small building is of general interest because of its cultural and architectural historical value as an example of a simple service building, intact in its main form and with partially preserved original detailing.
