Inleiding
PARKAANLEG, als onderdeel van de historische buitenplaats 'Het Plantagehuis'. De buitenplaats heeft zijn oorsprong als heerlijkheid 'Vreeland', die terug gaat tot in de 18de eeuw. In 1908 werd door de Amsterdamse koopman G.H. Hooft van Vreeland opdracht gegeven tot de bouw van het hoofdhuis in moorse stijl temidden van een landschappelijk aangelegd park.
Omschrijving
De parkaanleg op de buitenplaats wordt bepaald door de oude in noordwestelijke richting afbuigende Vechtarm. Het park met een licht gebogen, taps toelopende driehoekige vorm, vertoont een grotendeels landschappelijke aanleg, daterend uit de negentiende en twintigste eeuw. Aan de oostzijde van de rivierarm bevindt zich een lang en smal landschappelijk aangelegd parkdeel, dat vanaf het woonhuis in noordelijke richting doorloopt tot aan de Bergweg. Hier staan waardevolle boomsoorten als moerascypres, rode beuk, acacia en treures en een bodembedekking van stinzenplanten. Het tuingedeelte direct voor het woonhuis aan de noordzijde van de weg kent een formele aanleg met buxushaagjes. Het gedeelte van het park ten westen van de Vechtarm omvat een driehoekig terrein met een hoogstamboomgaard en een groot rechthoekig grasterrein (kasteelterrein), beide omgeven door water en toegankelijk via een brug. De beide terreinen worden door een weg (Kleizuwe) van elkaar gescheiden. PARK LAYOUT, as part of the historic country estate 'Het Plantagehuis'. The country estate has its origin as the domain 'Vreeland', which dates back to the 18th century. Description
The park layout on the country estate is determined by the old Vecht arm curving away in a north-westerly direction. The park with a lightly curved, tapering triangular form, shows a largely landscaped layout, dating from the nineteenth and twentieth century. On the east side of the river arm is a long and narrow landscaped park section, which extends northward from the dwelling house to the Bergweg. Here stand valuable tree species such as swamp cypress, copper beech, acacia and weeping willow and ground cover of stinze plants. The garden section directly in front of the dwelling house on the north side of the road features a formal layout with box hedges. The section of the park to the west of the Vecht arm comprises a triangular area with a standard orchard and a large rectangular grassed area (castle ground), both surrounded by water and accessible via a bridge. Both areas are separated from each other by a road (Kleizuwe).
