WILLIBRORDUSBEELD vervaardigd in 1935 als onderdeel van het bedevaartscomplex 'Onze Lieve Vrouwe ter Nood' naar ontwerp van de Haagse beeldhouwer P. Biesiot ter vervanging van een kleiner exemplaar. Het Willibrordusbeeld bevindt zich aan het einde van de Willibrordlaan. Deze laan is een as die is aangelegd van het atrium van de genadekapel naar het Willibrordusbeeld, evenwijdig aan de Runxputteweg, in de zuidwesthoek van het bedevaartsterrein. Volgens de inscriptie 'GESCHENK NED. R.K. VOLKSBOND AFD. VELSEN 1935' is het een geschenk van de afdeling Velsen van de R.K. Volksbond. Het wit geschilderde, natuurstenen Willibrordusbeeld bevindt zich staande op een rechthoekige sokkel van gele machinale baksteen waalformaat met terugliggende voeg. Description
WILLIBRORDUS STATUE made in 1935 as part of the pilgrimage complex 'Onze Lieve Vrouwe ter Nood' after a design by the The Hague sculptor P. Biesiot to replace a smaller example. The Willibrordus statue is located at the end of Willibrordlaan. This lane is an axis laid out from the atrium of the mercy chapel to the Willibrordus statue, parallel to Runxputteweg, in the southwest corner of the pilgrimage grounds. According to the inscription 'GESCHENK NED. R.K. VOLKSBOND AFD. VELSEN 1935' it is a gift from the Velsen branch of the R.K. Volksbond. The white painted natural stone Willibrordus statue stands on a rectangular plinth of yellow machine-made brick in Walloon format with recessed joint. The statue shows St. Willibrordus full-length with a bishop's staff in his left hand and a model of a church in his right. Bottom left the following inscription is made: 'GESCHENK NED. R.K. VOLKSBOND AFD. VELSEN 1935'. At the bottom left side the statue is signed. In front of the statue stands a wooden kneeling bench.
