The register's description

Inleiding.

Introduction.

The OFFICE BUILDING of the former riveting factory P. van Thiel and Sons consists of an elongated block-shaped main building, parallel to the Zuid-Willemsvaart. The building dates from 1906-'07 and shows forms of Transitional style. After the Second World War the interior was modernized.

Description.

The office building has a rectangular floor plan and comprises two storeys. The front facade consists of a central section of thirteen window bays and two slightly pronounced corner risalits of four window bays each. The building has a flat roof with hipped roofs all around, covered with improved Dutch tiles. The masonry consists of brick, enlivened by the application of extruded brick bands and a herringbone arch frieze. In the corner risalits, above the iron lintels of the windows on the ground floor, brick mosaic is set in. Both the entrance bays of the central section and the side risalits are crowned by gable walls. In the latter case the gable walls are blunt and are closed off by a brick balustrade with herringbone arch recesses. In the third window bay on both the left and right sides of the central section, an entrance section is located on the ground floor. The southern one is the modernized main entrance. The northern one consists of an arched, clamped carriage entrance with fanlight with small glazing bars. The windows on the ground floor and first floor of the entire front facade consist of casement windows with an arched fanlight with small glazing bars, or a divided round-arched fanlight. The attic storey is lit by round-arched windows in the gable walls. On the northern side gable at the rear, among other things a door with a wooden canopy is installed. The southern gable has two window bays. On the left side is a casement window with three-part fanlight; on the right side a three-part coupled window. On the first floor four casement windows with three-part fanlights are applied.
