Inleiding.
De R.K. PASTORIE van de H.Leonardusparochie dateert uit 1895 en is gebouwd in een stijl met elementen van de Neo-Renaissance en Neo-Gotische stijl.
Omschrijving.
De pastorie heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en bestaat uit een tweelaags (oostelijk) deel met risaliet, bekroond door een topgevel, en een eenlaags (westelijk) deel onder plat dak met dakschild, waartegen een viertal oorspronkelijke dakkapellen.
Alle schilden hebben lei in Maasdekking. Het muurwerk is opgetrokken in machinale baksteen, met banden van strengperssteen. Het fries is gemetseld met verschillende lijsten, waaronder een tandlijst en een keperbooglijst. De topgevel heeft een hardstenen afdeklijst. De vensters zijn geplaatst in iets in het muurwerk terugliggende segmentboognissen. De pastorie is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van het katholicisme in het zuiden en is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van de dorpspastorie. Het is van architectuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van het late werk van C. Franssen. Het heeft ensemblewaarden als visueel middelpunt van de deels industriële bebouwingskern rondom de Zuid Willemsvaart. Het is van belang vanwege de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur.

The rectory has a rectangular ground plan and consists of a two-storey (eastern) part with a projecting central section, crowned by a stepped gable, and a one-storey (western) part under a flat roof with hipped section, against which are four original roof dormers.
All hipped sections have slate in Maas covering. The walls are built up in machine-made brick, with courses of pressed brick. The frieze is built with various mouldings, including a dentil moulding and a herringbone arch moulding. The stepped gable has a sandstone coping moulding. The windows are placed in slightly recessed segmental arch niches in the masonry. The (northern) street facade is asymmetrical in layout and has over two storeys two window axes in the projecting section and a small sash window in the stepped gable; to the right of it is a recessed two-storey section one window axis wide with the porch; the facade is closed on the right side by a one-storey section of one window axis. Under a chalet-style canopy is a simple panel door. In the western side facade the windows are coupled under a double segmental arch.
Valuation.
The rectory is of general importance. The building has cultural historical importance as a particular expression of the development of Catholicism in the south and is also of importance for the typological development of the village rectory. It is of architectural historical importance as an example of the late work of C. Franssen. It has ensemble values as a visual focal point of the partly industrial building complex around the Zuid Willemsvaart. It is of importance because of the architectural integrity of the exterior.
